YT Addict | Was your little one licenced? have a id tag? these are absolute must's, our little one always...always had both tags on and they were current ,that way if she were to get out and was turned in to a shelter there was no doubt about ownership. Time and again I've seen dogs loose with not even a collar on,highly upsetting! Can you imagine people paying $1000 to $1500 for a pet and not spending the few dollars for collars and tags! It happen's all the time.

| Wow! This is SO scary!!!! I cant believe things like this are happening!!!! You think humane societies would be on OUR side, and would want to do anything possible to get the dog back to its true owners. I am really shocked! Im so sorry this happened. I couldnt even imagine what you went through. If it was me, Id be filing a lawsuit and would fight every day to get my baby back. And this is another reason why I highly recommend microchipping all pets!

| I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I do not understand these places - giving up a dog so quickly! This reminds me of a similar story posted on YT of a gal stuck in traffic trying to get to her dog out in California - and they gave her dog away - wonder what happened with that case. All I can say is these laws need to be changed! Three days is nothing - I don't know what the law is here where I live, but these type of posts make me want to find out and lobby for the longest possible length. Thank you for rescuing another baby in your time of hurt. It sounds like she has found a loving home. I know she can't fill that empty place in your heart for your other baby I will pray for you and that the women in NM will some how see your post and get in touch with you. Yorkiesmiles |

| Our pound won't even call you - you have to go down every other day and sadly walk through all the cages to make sure your dog isn't there because at 3 days they put them up for adoption. |

| Oh, Lordy, I'm sorry to say I don't trust our city animal shelter/animal control. My friends in the SPCA here tell of animal control officers selling the purebreed dogs they find to their friends; the ones who make it to the shelter, again, are steered toward ready "buyers." It's super corrupt! Not long ago, one of the workers was indicted for stealing the fees and donations! The mismanagement was publicized by the SPCA and the humane society -- they used to staff and operate the shelter until the city took over everything in a highly suspicious manner. That is a city service -- can you make a stink at City Hall? I'm so sorry this happened to you!!!! Julie |

| What part of IL are you in? We lost our Lab in Chicago and called all the shelters in the area. She turned up at one of them and they called us right away. I would try to make friends at the shelter w/ someone who will break down and give you the info. Best of luck.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I'm so sorry for your loss -- was the dog microchipped? I have a suggestion that I haven't seen posted previously: I would write a letter to the new owner in Texas and I would take it to the pound/Humane Society that sold your dog and ask them to mail it to the new owner. Put your letter in a stamped envelope, be sure your return address and phone number is on the inside in your letter and give the unsealed envelope to them and ask them to mail it to the new owner. Hopefully, the pound will do this -- this will allow them to maintain the confidentiality and hopefully be a win-win for everyone. Again, sorry for your loss. |
