| Does your dog come when called????? I never had a large dog that didn't come when I called it. And, I have never had a small dog that does come when it's called --- unless, it wants to, of course. I finally resorted to "treats" to get my two other small dogs to come in from outside. But, this worked only if they wanted the treat more than they wanted to stay outside. And, believe me - they often wanted to stay outside more than they wanted any treat. I'm working with a whistle on my two dogs now.......and, of course, they get a treat if they come (we have just started). My Yorkie pup who can hear like nothing I have ever seen before - can even hear me pick up the whistle and is right there for his treat. (You know that little pea - that is in some whistles - he hears that if it barely moves.) Carol Jean |

| mine used to come when called... before he got more comfortable with his surroundings and is starting to act much bigger than he really is. now also agrees with jan's options listed above... #3 has a qualifier...he'll come if he think there's something in it for him ie: treat, hugs, new toy etc. that's better than what he has now, ie: grass, sunshine, pigeon, etc. |

| Yuri comes right away when he is called, but that's becuase he's momma's boy and would rather be with me than running around in the yard. Lain on the other hand will only come if she's decided there's nothing else worth her attention.

| I had obedience lessons with N'Stein and sometimes he listen so well to commands and sometimes he is looking at me with a face saying "are you talking to me". He obey's when he wants to. So Hourra for the Yorkies !!!!!!!! We love then that way.

| We went to obedience school mainly for this, Which he did great in class. But now, NO, and when I try to get him, it's a game and he runs. So frustrating! Even when treats are involved he'll come but not near enough that I can get him, or if I reach to touch him... gone! BAD BOY!

| Glad to know I'm not the only one. Some days when I'm chasing Lucy outside it's a good thing I can't catch her because I think I might kill her if I do. I get so frustrated. The one thing I've found for a treat that works more often than not is boiled chicken. If she knows I have that she hardly leaves my side. |

Lain does this too. We call it Catch Me If You Can, she'll let you come within a couple feet, but if you try to grab her, she darts away. Here's my secert for Lain. She will do any thing for the ball and follow it wherever it may go, so I just get one of the many tennis balls lying around, bounce it a couple times, open the back door and toss it in the house. She runs right after her and bang, before she knows it the door is shut and I'm back to drinking my coffee. I'm just as tricksy and she is!
