Lain does this too. We call it Catch Me If You Can, she'll let you come within a couple feet, but if you try to grab her, she darts away.

Here's my secert for Lain. She will do any thing for the ball and follow it wherever it may go, so I just get one of the many tennis balls lying around, bounce it a couple times, open the back door and toss it in the house. She runs right after her and bang, before she knows it the door is shut and I'm back to drinking my coffee. I'm just as tricksy and she is!
