| Another IDIOT at Petco So I went to Petco with my son and Brandy to get some fish supplies. As I was walking to the checkout counter I notice a HUGE dog staring at the chinchilla's in the glass cage in the middle of the store. He is totally staring at them like he is ready to eat one, he's holding still with his nose right up to the glass. He's wearing a harness, but no one else is seen anywhere near him. I walk to the counter and tell the lady, "There is a dog overthere by himself with no owner to be seen anywhere!" The lady was surprised as I pointed over there and a guy in another aisle heard me and he said, "Oh, that's my dog, he is FINE. He LOVES coming here and doing that and I can never get him past that point, it's like his highlight of coming here." Then he returns to shopping and the clerk whispers to me that he's actually supposed to stay with the dog. Well duh? But she didn't do anything about it. So I tell her that I'm just concerned because I have a little dog and I don't want the big dog to mistake her for a chinchilla because no one is restraining that dog. She still didn't do anything. Then the dog starts barking and jumping against the chinchilla cage- Big surprise right? Then the owner yells at the dog. The clerk still didn't do anything about it. I am seriously considering either not bringing my dogs there anymore or calling Petco about this. People should restrain their dog and not leave it in the middle of the store like that. |

| I don't blame you for how you feel. The employee must not have said anything because she is at work and she can't take any customers side. I am sure she agreed completely with you but if she upsetted that customer she would probably get grief from her boss. |

| I am sorry that hapeened to you. That dog should have been with the owner. What if it attacked a dog would Petco be responsible since they knew the owner was leaving it by itself. By my house it is Petsmart that is crazy. I never take my dogs in there.

| Actually I think I recall seeing a sign posted on the door of OUR Petco that says something along the lines of "All restrained pets welcomed" or something like that. That dog was not restrained. There is nothing wrong with an employee asking a customer to abide by the rules so that other customers and their dogs or animals feel safe. If the nonabiding customer doesn't like it, tough...they should have abided by the rules.

| I would complain to the manager and if that didn't work I would go over his head to the district manager or just try the main office. This is totally uncalled for.

| sure not taking your dogs would make you feel safer, but what about everyone else who encounters this man with his dog? Call PetCo I think that's our duty as responcible parents to call out the ones who aren't

| Well I just called over there and talked to the manager who was actually a really nice guy. He said that the clerk should have told a manager to tell the guy to restrain his dog and stay with him at all times because it could have jumped on a customer or another dog. He asked what time it was and he said that he'll notify the clerk. I feel better, but still a little annoyed at that guy for being so irresponsible. It's nice that he trusts his dog that much, but I don't feel comfortable with it. |

| Way to go....I worry about those places all the time.....course, Mojo is never on the floor or in a cart....always in my arms (with his harness and leash on). Some people are so stupid.....and I can't believe the clerk didn't do anything either....isn't that part of their jobs? Some people never cease to amaze me...............

| Thanks everyone. What I couldn't believe is the way that man was talking as if they do that ALL the time and it's OKAY. I have never let Brandy's feet touch the floor in that place and my pug's won't either. That dog looked like it wanted to tear the chinchilla's head off. I was really scared that his head would turn toward us when we walked around him, I tried to keep a good distance away. It was a fairly big dog, it looked like it may have been a pitt bull mix. Even if it was a smaller dog, people need to be more considerate. I have seen people bring pet rats into the store and I would hate to see any animal get chased around or worse |
