So I went to Petco with my son and Brandy to get some fish supplies. As I was walking to the checkout counter I notice a HUGE dog staring at the chinchilla's in the glass cage in the middle of the store. He is totally staring at them like he is ready to eat one, he's holding still with his nose right up to the glass. He's wearing a harness, but no one else is seen anywhere near him. I walk to the counter and tell the lady, "There is a dog overthere by himself with no owner to be seen anywhere!"
The lady was surprised as I pointed over there and a guy in another aisle heard me and he said, "Oh, that's my dog, he is FINE. He LOVES coming here and doing that and I can never get him past that point, it's like his highlight of coming here." Then he returns to shopping and the clerk whispers to me that he's actually supposed to stay with the dog. Well duh? But she didn't do anything about it.
So I tell her that I'm just concerned because I have a little dog and I don't want the big dog to mistake her for a chinchilla because no one is restraining that dog. She still didn't do anything. Then the dog starts barking and jumping against the chinchilla cage- Big surprise right? Then the owner yells at the dog. The clerk still didn't do anything about it.
I am seriously considering either not bringing my dogs there anymore or calling Petco about this. People should restrain their dog and not leave it in the middle of the store like that.
