All my passed dogs got table food, not from me, from who ever came for dinner or who's house me and my girls went to, ppl were always feeding them even when I demanded them to stop. I did give them 1/4 slice of bacon maybe twice a month but many months apart when I treated myself to making me a week end breakfast, who knew then bacon was bad for them. How did my dogs live long lives with the lil bits of bad things I gave them like 1/2 a seedless skin off grape every once in a while. Boy what I have learned since joining YT. So, Mr. Cody gets nothing from the table but a piece of boiled potato, or a bit of plain pasta, I buy fruits and veggies just for him. I am very strict with what foods he eats. My vet will have to use something else to treat his injury because I am not going back to the two herbs that caused this horrific diarrhea, the Metronidazole that is to stop diarrhea did not work this time around, so that's out as well. This Pandemic and not being able to see / speak to my vet is becoming overwhelming, I don't know exactly what treatment was given to Cody, I get the bill, see what I was billed for, I call to ask what this and that was for, I am told when a tech is free they will call and explain but they don't call. I have a hair line trigger temper when it comes to my dog. I cannot get answers and its beyond frustrating.

| I’m sorry to hear poor Cody is having such a rough time. You’re absolutely right, though. You have to stop the diarrhea. That simply can’t continue; it’s too dangerous. |

In any case, I will not be using the two Chinese herbs he was on, the diarrhea was horrific and scary for me and, affected my pups stomach. I do agree, certain meds don't work for every dog. He finally just now pooped since 12:30AM , no change, still loose diarrhea,it just drips out of him.

| He's had such a time of it that it may take longer than you want for you to see that firmer stool---but I'm just certain it's on the way (whhaaatt?!!!). Love you guys and wishing wonderful health for you both!! |

| As of last night his poop is still very soft like diarrhea, he hasn't pooped this morning yet so can't see if it's improved. I called the office at 7 this morning, spoke to a kinda tech. She calls ppl that have their animals in the hospital to give daily reports on their pets. I told here everything and I stopped all meds. told her I emailed the vet on Monday and never heard back, asked since the pandemic has she stopped answering emails, she said no, she said vet has been very busy (which I know) she said send the email again but up-date it, she calls the vet at 11AM everyday to report to her about the animals that are in the hospital, at that time she will ask her if she read my email. What ever the vet decides someone will call me in the afternoon. Cody is his lil ole perky self, still on the chic / rice, he wants to play fetch soooo bad it hurts me to have to ignore him because I don't know if he can go back to being active, bad enough he's jumping on and off the sofa and bed. I'll up-date after I see what my vet wants me to do. I do have an appt. for nx Fri. the 18th when she will do a 3rd chiropractic back alignment if he needs it. Thank you for your concern.

| A tech from the vets office JUST called me. Said the vet JUST read my email, I wanted to ask in a snarky tone "which one" but bit my tongue. So, now the vet wants me to give Cody Cervical one every other day and Double P ll every other day and no Metronidazole. I am not going to start him on them until his poop is more solid with no sign of stickiness, I want to get him back on his kibble get his poop to the way it should be. Then start this new procedure, this way if these herbs give him diarrhea type poop I will know it. His stomach is just beginning to heal, I am not going to mess it up. I cannot believe it took my vet 5 days to read my email. She is such a caring vet when it comes to animals.

I know that you generally trust your vet, but what little I’ve read about that Chinese herb makes me kind of uneasy. Not that I have anything against Chinese products in general, but herbal products don’t have the quality control and safety protocols we expect in pharmaceuticals ... and quality control and safety protocols important when you’re dealing with products that have toxic ingredients. And from what little I’ve read, Double P II has very toxic ingredients. https://www.veterinarypracticenews.c...chinese-herbs/ If I were in your place, I think I would tell the vet that it didn’t agree with my dog and ask for something less toxic. | |
