| ![]() My 13 year old T-Cup Yorkie died suddenly on me middle of the night thursday to friday morning. She was in good health, no sickness, had just had a regular check ups and all was good (aside from a bit of arthritis that comes with age). I live alone/travel a lot for work so she had been my only real companion for many years. I was getting ready for another trip, finished packing and went to brush her teeth before bed. She fought me on this as she always did, afterwards I got up to clean the toothbrush, she followed me but just collapsed couldnt move and just looked at me… I went to pick her up and though she was still breathing it was clear she was going.. she went completely limp and by the time I got to the ER they tried CPR but nothing could be done… I feel so guilty cause the last thing she remembers is me brushing her teeth which she hated, almost as if she died mad at me. So helpless I couldnt do anything when it happened. I miss her terribly, I cant imagine my daily routine without her now. I just hope she knows she was loved and had a good life… I do think about getting a new dog but I feel guilty like I would be trying to replace her.. |

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please take comfort knowing you were able to give her so many years of love and care. Imagine it is natural to experience some feeling of guilt when we lose a little one. As she crossed over the rainbow bridge, rest assured she was remembering all those years of companionship. You wrote, "I can't imagine my daily routine without her ..." Same here. I lost my sweet senior, Katy, at the end of March and still find myself fumbling around at times. Many folks find that opening their home to another pet does help ease the grief. I will. Katy isn't "replaceable," but do hope another little one will fill some of the void my sweetie left behind. Will keep you in my thoughts--KatysMom Last edited by KatysMom; 06-02-2018 at 03:44 PM. | |

| ![]() I am so very sorry for your loss! I know, from experience, that a new baby can help ease the pain of mourning. You cannot, nor would you want to, "replace" a beloved companion; but opening your heart to a new little one can be a chance to start an entirely different journey filled with love and caring.

| ![]() I understand how devastated you are at the loss of your little one. I had Teddy for 14 years when he died of kidney failure. I vowed I would never get another Yorkie. But, guess what. I decided 3 years later that I wanted another Yorkie but not to replace Teddy so I opted to get a female (Gidget). I was NOT replacing Teddy because he will always be in my heart. I decided on female because I knew I wouldn't be tempted to compare the two. My little Gidget is as sweet as she can be but does not have the same temperament as Teddy. That's not a bad thing since she's her own little self with her own personality. Don't be hesitant about getting another Yorkie. They are so sweet and the best little companions. Grieve your loss but celebrate a new family member. Remember, you're not trying to "replace". |

| ![]() You can never replace a beloved companion, she will remain in your heart forever. Don't deny yourself the love a fur baby brings to you. There should be no feelings of guilt, you gave your baby all your love and she knew this, she always tried to please you and see you smile at her, she would want you to be happy. No two yorkies are alike, they have different personalities and quirky little ways, she / he will be loved for the dog she / he is, not for the one you lost. I hope one day you will open your heart again to another yorkie baby and love her / him for the dog that she / he is. From my own experience in losing a much beloved fur baby, my rescued boy helped me heal, he rescued me.

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Our yorkies are family with us day and night. It is so heartbreaking to have to let them go. I believe each one of us including our precious animals have a day of birth and a day of death. Jesus tells us in Job chapter 14 that our days are determined. It comforts me to know that. Nothing more I could have done. Have to accept this and know there's beauty beyond our understanding where pets go when they leave us. It's all in a Divine plan and one day we will be reunited with them. Yes choose another fur friend and let love come to you again. |
