| Such a sad sad situation and I doubt we will ever know why it was done but I am happy those babies are in a good place now and your furbutt was adopted by you when the man was doing ok. My prayers for the man and the babies♥♥ |

| Failure to vaccinate for rabies constitutes neglect in my mind. The dogs looked horrible. They certainly don't look like my pampered Yorkies or anyone else's. I realize some of you are highly suspect of the system.

The house in this case and dogs don't look pretty, but don't we have to be careful about policing housekeeping and grooming? I'm not too upset about the parrot that could be in molt. I don't know much about birds but am told molting can look pretty bad. I like people to have an actual trial before their property is taken away from them.

| If you are doing the right thing, you don't need money and connections.

Just one look told me all I needed to know...and here we are again with breeders making excuses for bad breeding. This. always. happens. always.

As for trials prior.....that is not even logical in abuse/neglect cases. First of all, there has to be a warrant and again, while I don't know Mississippi laws. they usually are not easy to obtain in animal abuse/neglect cases. There IS a court date set immediately and the animals are not the property of the city/state or whoever seized until the judge makes a ruling based on evidence.

| If the man was one of those horrible BYB, then I'd say lock him up and treat him like he did those animals. But if it's true what the local news reported (per Zanny's earlier post), it's a very sad situation for both the animals and the man. I hope they all get the help they need... |

| I posted a link about this story as well. The link I posted was from The Clarion Ledger, and it had a video. In the video, they state the dogs had cataracts, skin disorders, matting, and major dental problems. There were no floors and the walls were crumbling. One of the Yorkies in the video could not walk properly. It was limping on both back legs with its whole hiney bent under. They said the oldest dog was 13 and the youngest adult was two, and they had THREE litters of puppies. You can't be too concerned about finding homes when you're still letting the animals breed. I could care less what hard times a person has, what kind of neighbors they have or any other kind of excuse they have, this is deplorable. I am disgusted looking at these poor babies. Thankfully, on the South Mississippi Humane Society Facebook page a local groomer was giving them haircuts and baths. If you can't take care of animals and your pathetic excuse is you can't find homes for them, then at least find a no kill shelter (we have one up here in Mississippi) and turn the animals in there. Absolutely no excuse for animals living in these conditions. By the way, if you can't afford to provide rabies shots, don't get dogs. It is the law they have a rabies shot in Mississippi. The animal laws might not be that great here, but they do have to have rabies shots. |

| I have been thinking about sharing a story from my vet specialist's office yesterday. I think this is the perfect thread for it. I had one of my fosters there for a splint change and there was a gal in there with two precious yorkie puppies. One was a 10 month old female and the other an 8 week old male. I asked why she was there and she said the puppy has PDA. I asked if the breeder was helping with the cost OR if she got her money back that she paid for him. Oh no....she said the breeder will only "swap out". She said that she found out about his issues when he was with her for only two days and she was thinking about turning him back over until she found out what the breeder planned to do with him. The breeder said there are many people who cannot afford yorkies, so she would place him in a home with someone like that. She assured her she would not euthanize him. Interestingly, the gal was a CCU nurse and she was not about to let that happen to this puppy. What a nice person and how fortunate for this precious puppy. But...seriously horrible...she has had the puppy since he was 6 weeks old AND he has PDA. Great breeder eh? Wonder what kind of excuses someone could come up for this piece of garbage. She would let that puppy go to a person with no money where he would get sick, suffer, and die. Oh...but she would not euthanize him....WTH...people are stone cold evil. Humane euthanasia would be far better than letting him live with the condition.

I read the story did not see the video. Was it attached to the newspaper article? I don't make excuses for bad breeders - but there is a trial to come and I do understand that humans can find them selves in over their heads for many reasons - mental illness dementia serious surgery etc etc. And the laws n the penalties suck for dog cruelty for sure - well at least in North America. I picked up a rescue dog from the SPCA and you did not have to squint too hard to make a good case for animal neglect. A stinky smelly dog with ear mites, demodex - encrusted eyes with one eye still needing surgery - malnourished and underweight. Knew no commands could not walk on a lead AND they HAD him for SIX months! So if this dog had been in an owners home and a neighbour reported the owners for keeping that dog in the condition the SPCA did ......

![]() ![]() No vet care...no HW prevention or treatment..oh holistic. Yeah...that's a joke and I doubt they even do that. THere is much more...but the bottom line.....laws are NOT protective of animals but every time someone introduces legislation to protect them, the breeders jump up and down and start screaming about the fact that they will suffer. I have seen it happen over and over and over again. Nauseating. I pray that one day the reputable breeders of the world will get together and start a movement to expose bad breeding...rather than spending time worrying about their livelihood. As for the SPCA....I am not a supporter.

First of all they gave him time to get things in order and he failed. THAT tells me he is not titering...plus I seriously doubt titering is allowed by law there.
