| Susan Lanci harness for long hair yorkie? I currently have a buddy belt harness but I noticed that since my yorkie has a lot of hair it tangles her up a little bit. What do you guys think about the Susan Lanci harnesses? There are a lot of them to choose from but the velcro on some doesn't seem safe. Opinions?

| I don't have one of her harnesses but they are really cute. The Velcro seems like it will be painful if the hair gets caught .For my buddy belt to prevent matting , Emma is cut low under her underarms and I let her shake out her hair after the bath. I do brush her hair once a week ( probably should do more ) but that helps prevent tangles wear her buddy belt sits . She has long hair as well.

| With the velcro on the back on the Susan Lanci harness, should be easy to prevent hair from getting stuck in it. We use coats that have velcro on the front and they just take a little extra care not to catch hair. The tendency to tangle is about the same if you are talking about the strappy designs from Susan Lanci. The full chest coverage ones are more like clothes, more tangling. They are beautiful though. My boys have their chest/armpit hair and I have to make sure that it combed out thoroughly before the BB harnesses go on. Small tangles will turn into big tangles when wearing anything.

| I actually would think these Susan Lanci ones would tangle MORE due to the wideness of the straps. You have to part the hair either way on these are the BBs to prevent tangles. I just have a preference of buckles over velcro. I hate the sound of velcro tearing open, and eventually you will have to replace it. that is just the nature of velcro. The loops will get worn down. A metal buckle will never get worn down. Also BBs are real leather, SL uses ultrasuede, while that is a quality material, it is still just fabric. But if you are looking for a vegan friendly option, that would be it. Plus points for SL for being made in the USA though. But those prices, ouch!

Yes, the chest/armpit hair is what tangles a lot! Now that it's winter I don't want to trim it because she'll get cold more easily. I think from reading the comments it doesn't look like these harnesses will make the tangling occur less. They are very pretty, though!

Use extra conditioner in the armpits and chest at bath time. Pay close attention to combing those areas. Little tangles hide well there. The first few days after my boys have a bath, they have no tangles at all. But as the weeks wears on, I have to check their armpits more closely. Between the back legs too.
