With the velcro on the back on the Susan Lanci harness, should be easy to prevent hair from getting stuck in it. We use coats that have velcro on the front and they just take a little extra care not to catch hair.
The tendency to tangle is about the same if you are talking about the strappy designs from Susan Lanci. The full chest coverage ones are more like clothes, more tangling. They are beautiful though.
My boys have their chest/armpit hair and I have to make sure that it combed out thoroughly before the BB harnesses go on. Small tangles will turn into big tangles when wearing anything.
