| Shaking and Panting Lily has been a100% inside dog until the last month. For about a month now my husband has been taking her outside with him. Once we let her out, she runs non stop. I mean she runs full blast the entire time. When she comes in she is panting and shaking. This has happened several times now so I'm concerned. I have been giving her niutrical because I am concerned she might have gotten low sugar. I looked online and noticed diabetes in a few post. She will be going in for her yearly soon and will get lab work. But wanted to post to see if anyone had anything similar happen. Any ideas? Thanks!

| I don't have an answer for you, but an very interested in what your vet finds. Hoping all is well, and maybe she is just so excited about her outdoor adventures

| The panting is definitely normal. The warmer it is outdoors, the more panting. Max and Teddy will often take some time to cool down when we return home from an outing. She might be shaking out of excitement. Teddy has a little tremble excitement. Instead of Nutrical, try offering Lily a regular treat. My boys always have a little something after an outing and vigorous exercise. We usually use a little yogurt, chicken, or kibble. Try videotaping Lily doing this and send it to your vet.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Could she be getting overheated? Does the nutrical result in a fairly instant change in her shaking?

| I hope Lily's enjoying her outdoor adventures! Yazmin runs not stop which causes her to paint heavily as well. I agree with Kristin, try offering Lily a regular treat in place of Nutrical. It also might help to give Lily a treat before she begins running full blast! Yazmin eats a small amount of Cheerios before a vigorous game of fetch! |

| I don't think you have much to worry about. Teddy gets like this every time he's outside too. Not sure where you're located, but here in FL it's always super hot so after running around like a maniac he starts panting pretty quickly. I let him right into the kitchen after he's been outside because the tile helps to cool him down. I agree with everyone above too, try giving her a regular treat or nutri-cal before/after her outside adventures. |

| Duchess runs nonstop when she is outside. When I take her to the dog park, she runs so much and so fast she actually starts drooling. That's when I try to make her rest for a few minutes. |

| No it's not instant results. She will pant and shake for about 5 min or so just guessing. It's been high 70s low 80s here. But I guess she could be since she is non stop running.

I often make them chill/finish panting for a few minutes when we return home before I serve them dinner -- although I will give them the small treat right away. Hoping that is all it is for Lily, that she is just panting and excited after having a blast outdoors.

| When she knows it's just a matter of time (she'll allow me one cup of coffee when I get home from work) and we'll be going for a walk, Piper sits on my lap and quivers (as if cold) and trembles. Needless to say, once on our way, all that dissipates! Once home, Piper heads for one of her cool spots--tile if she's all done in, under the couch if just kinda hot. |
