I would rather have them trash just one area of my house instead of the whole house. I keep pads and have it some what dog proof also.

No you were say a Standard is 7lbs. That not a Standard. Under is if you show. Doesnt matter if you have a pet. But if your gonna quote specifics they should be correct. If your looking for a purebreed doesnt matter what Country there will some a small percent of inbreeding may 3-5%. If you dont want a purebreed then dont get one. Beside you come here and rant on the post?? For what?? The op was stating all the work for a tiny. What you are posting about is way off topic

For those of you questioning my info-breed standard is between 4 and 7 lbs. Yorkie Size | Yorkshire Terrier Information Center I own a four pounder and a miner and I do not restrict their movement and I trust their judgement. Just settle down. Your dog is not an idiot. They know their limitations.

That old. They just say not over 7lbs. But pets dont matter. And the post is for tinys . Ppl don't relize how much work they are. But some dogs dont know there limits. My big Moki is crazy. He will leap off the roof if he was allowed to

In the Usa the Akc doesn't make the standard. The National Club of the breed does.

Ironmike86, I hear what you are saying. I'm trying to discourage the purchase of "tinys" as you put it. Unless you are a geneticist, I suppose. Undersized yorkies get sick and live for six or seven years. I'm a BREEDER! I know what I am saying. I have a waiting list for my pups, and they are most definitely not show dogs. I know what I am saying. It's unhealthy. If they are genetically, naturally small, ok, I get that.

Well...actually, they removed the lower number for breed standard....it is 7 lbs. upper limit.

I am thrilled you are a staunch supporter for "survival of the fittest"....let all those little wimpy, weak little dependent taffy azzez survive the best they can...if they die because they run into the street, or they get into it with a 70 lb dog and die, or they die because they trip and fall down a flight of stairs (like my 60 year old aunt did) or off the bed, like my paralyzed uncle did.... oh well, not tough enough, didnt deserve to survive....life is for the strong and hearty and productive.....let the weak or the undersize die if they cant handle it! If you aint tough, fold and get out of the way and be sure and take your wimpy little dog with you!! .....survival is for the tough and strong... And all those nasty little kids!!! Start them out right, so they are survivors and they can manage life on their own...dont want weaklings or over dependent little house apes running around.....survival of the fittest is the only way to go...throw them out there and the ones that survive, great!!! Like you say, trust their judgement....your toddler kid/grandkid is not an idiot.....they are HUMAN and are much smarter than any stupid little dog.....they know their limitations.....if they dont, well they will either learn or they will die!

disappointed in your answer, yorkiemom. The OP bragged that their undersized pup came from a professional. But you have turned it around on me, that I do not have empathy for the weak. That's just not right. This person clearly bought (god this new term I learned today is so gross)..."a tiny". If I bred a too small dog, I would not sell to anyone and deal with the consequences and heartbreak myself. But you have painted me in the light that I don't have empathy for a "naturally" small dog. BS. The op clearly bought an undersized dog from "show parents", on purpose, and is now crying about it. Thank you for your sarcasm. Was looking forward to an intelligent response, wether it agreed with my opinion or not. Lost the respect I had for you. But...what was it you said before? "Haha! Hilarious?" Ask me how many times I have had inquiries about the size of my puppies. Or if they are "teacup."

Let's stop arguing about "standard". It's bs. It's for show. It's for social status. You know it, I know it. Top line for standard is seven pounds. Anything under 4 pounds is crippling the dog on purpose and it's selfish but they are "so cute." I'm done with this forum. Kindest regards to all.
