| Is my yorkie unbonding from me?? Chloe has always been mainly bonded to me but recently my mom has been "puppy sitting" her and I feel like she is replacing me with my mom. She follows my mom everywhere and even pees from excitement when she sees her. I know this is a little silly but I have been feeling upset about it because she is my dog. Can a dog bond to someone else so randomly?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Aw, I'm sorry you're feeling bad about this. Dogs can be so random about who they bond to - I've seen it at the shelter where I volunteer so many times. Maybe she is just seeing your Mom as "alpha" or something...do you think that's part of it? Bc the submissive peeing makes me think of that. Maybe spend some time w/ Chloe doing some trick training...etc..?

YT 1000 Club Member | It is entirely possible she sees your mom as "mom" too. She can love both of you just as easily as love you. I don't think they can only love one person. My Yorkie loves my family, yes he is mostly mine and loves me most, but he sure does love my daughter a lot and I am okay with that. She might just have so much fun with your mom that she loves to see her. I would try to make sure you take time each day to spend with her just having fun. I set aside time where I play with my dogs usually once in the morning and then later in the evening before bed we play again. It helps us keep connected. Give that a try and see if it helps.

| Max and Sasha love both Toni and I equally (even though I tell Toni they love me just a little more!) Sometimes they lay on my lap and sometimes they lay on her lap. I agree with Jade that they can love more than 1 person.

| Do you live with your mom? Mine love to go see "grandma". Mostly bc she over feeds them and so does BIL. When we are over there Toto will follow BIL around everywhere. I know he gives them people food but he denies it.

| One day my yorkie was following my neice around and I was kinda bummed out about it because until that day, she only wanted to follow me around. It wasn't until later that I found out my neice was feeding her turkey and as soon as the turkey was gone, she came back to me. Bottom line, my little stinker is a user, as long as you have something good to eat, she is your best friend until the food is gone. But.....I am the one she always come back too. |

| I'd be happy if I were you There are 2 reasons I say this...mainly your mom must be very kind to her, and she trusts her. Thus if you need a baby sitter you dont have to worry, lol. The second is more important really. I've managed to really create a mommy's baby. It was cute at first but now she's got a real jealous streak with people and other dogs. She just does not want me to touch anyone else. If my attention is too focused on someone else, she gets really clingy. I got some suggestions from a friend on this site, and its helping but, I do want her to be friendly and able to play and have fun with other people and dogs besides me! Shes fun with me, but it doesn't always show up when my family or friends come over. One thing I know though from every dog I've ever had and that is, they know who feeds them and loves them and cares for them. They may "cheat" a little when someone interesting comes around, but when the chips are down...they always know who "mommy" is |

I think the same. It is wonderful that your baby loves being with your mom! If she didn't, she would be sad, nervous etc. about your absence. Your mom must be in tune with her and treat her really well! Enjoy the heck out of it. Dinky is miserable when we leave him somewhere-even if he is getting the star treatment with grandma. | |

| This is a very interesting discussion. Bella is most responsive to me, because I let her get away with murder--well, licking my face anyway. My partner will absolutely not allow Bella to lick his face, and he is much more stern with her. But I can tell from her reactions to him that if he were more permissive, she would drop me like yesterday's news and fawn all over him. I just consulted my partner, and thankfully, that's not going to happen--he doesn't want to be licked. More facial massages for me! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Bonnie sometimes is more affectionate with my hubby but it's because he spoils her rotten! I'm the one that has all the thankless tasks and all he has to do is feed her goodies and play games. Still, when push comes to shove and she needs or wants something, she always comes to me to make it better. |

| Thank you all! I feel better now with all of your responses! I've realized that it's good she loves my mom aka her "grandma" just as much as me.. And that she's not really replacing me but loves us both. I just got upset for a second that she doesn't love me anymore.. But when I came home yesterday she jumped all over the house and was happy so now I'm happy again lol.

Both of my doggies have a strong bond with my dad. Doesn't mean they love me any less.
