| That is so funny! I'd frame the letter and put it on the wall. That's terrific. Sounds like the mailman is real fond of his little toe. Guess you could move the mailbox by the front gate - WOW.... LOL

| Wow that is one tough yorkie, or at least one wuss of a postman! Be proud, and hang a beware of gaurd dog sign, you wouldn't want little gizmo to viciously attack someone and then get accused of being negligent...LOL...This made my day!!!

| I don't think it's so funny either. If I ever got a letter like that (even about my cat), I'd take it seriously and do whatever I needed to do to rectify the situation. I have never wanted my children or my pets to cause problems for anyone else. They may be small, and I know they're probably harmless, but they still have no right to infringe on the rights of other people. My uncle was a mailman. He always said that it was the little dogs that were the worst as far as causing him concern and interrupting his getting his work done. I love my animals. I have had small dogs and larger dogs and cats and have never wanted any of them to be disrespectful of other people's rights or property. I would immediately do whatever I need to do to keep my dog from bothering the mailman or any other visitor to my house. Where is your dog that he can be such a bother to a visitor? Is he outside alone? If your yard is fenced - at least the mailman is coming in and out. Couldn't your dog get loose or be taken? Carol Jean |

I do not have a fence, and no my dog does not go out alone. He has every "right" to sit on his front porch any time he wants..it is not someone elses property. He is infringing on nothing. The damn mail man got pissed because Gizmo barked at him when he came to the door with the mail. Like I said I picked him up when the man came to the door, I was in the swing. As far as visitors being infringed upon, this does not happen. I work and my kids are in the bed most of the time. Gizmo is a great guy and serves his purpose to eat, sleep, play and be loved on. For any chance that someone might feel infringed upon at my house they are quite welcome to use the door. Get a grip, I was just joking around with the letter I got in the mail...and I still think it's funny, as did a lot of other people. | |

| I got a letter from the post master yesterday that informed me my Gizmo was a threat to the mail man. It said my mail has been suspended until he is no longer on the porch at mail time. I am still laughing my ass off. ------------------------ Sorry - I still fail to see humor in this. And, please notice that a lot of people agree with me also. If you had said that you found this somewhat funny (because Gizmo is so small), but still intended to do whatever you need to do to rectify the situation (and if you had taken the complaint a little more seriously), I would have agreed with you. And if you hadn't received a letter from the Post Master, I would probably not have thought much about the incident. But you did, and this is probably what caused me to think that you should have taken it a little more seriously than you did. ------- Or perhaps I just had a crazy day - and my brain is off in la la land. This has been known to happen! Carol Jean |

| i have had a bad experience with this also... mine wasnt funny though. . . we had a SOLID gate (solid as in NO SLOTS, it was solid wood all the way across, no holes to slip through) and my cairn terrier jumped it . . . well the mail man was on our front porch delivering mail and my terrier jumped up on him. He didnt bite him (i saw the WHOLE INCIDENT) at the worst he probably got scratched by my dogs nails (what dog doesnt have nails that can scratch ???)... we got a letter from the postmaster except it wasnt so "lightly put"... ours said they would no longer deliver mail to our house AT ALL and we had to pay to get a PO box (all the way across town). . It also said that we were lucky the postman didnt press charges for the "bite that he recieved" (bite my butt...... he didnt bite him at all... but did the word of the owner mean anything? nope, not at all... so the mail man won)... didnt stop me from turning on the sprinklers (which pointed in odd directions, even towards the street) when he walked by Oops, i guess i didnt see him too bad he is ALL WET. . . Anyways, be very careful... it is their word against yours and your word doesnt count for anything |

| I can certainly see the humor in receiving an official notice regarding your dangerous tiny terror of a terrier. I would frame the letter and put a warning notice on the door, I would laugh and make have a good time with it. Gizmo is one BAD DUDE and he has an official notice to prove it. ....and then if it were me, I would take the matter very seriously and make certain that there are no further incidents involving Gizmo. If Gizmo has acted in an aggressive manner (which apparently he did or the Mail Dude wouldn't have had the notice sent) he has one strike against him. If you feel like Giz has been unfairly accused then you should do what it takes to clear his name, go to the extreme of apologizing if necessary. As it stands, if Gizmo was to bite someone and they had to go to the doctor or to the hospital for treatmet, chances are the medical facility would notify the cops who could very likely come and arrest poor Gizmo and he already has one strike. "Dangerous dogs" are often euthanized without much forethought and afterthought doesn't matter. Good luck..... |

| I live in Texas in a city with a leash law. I met a woman once who had a very well trained chihuahua. She would take it with her to visit in nursing homes. Well, one day she was pulling weeds in the flower bed in her front yard with her chihuahua next to her with no leash. Animal control came by, stopped and gave her a ticket. She refused to sign it because she was on her own property, and her dog was not causing any problems. She ended up being arrested and had to call a friend to get her out of jail. If you met this lady, you would never believe this could have happened to her. Very, very nice person. She said the going to jail part was really scarry and embarassing. She shouldn't have gotten so upset, but the animal control person over-reacted, too. Strange things can happen to nice people and nice pets. |

| I think it's hilarious that a post man would make such a big deal out of a little yorkie barking at him! Heck..Maddie barks at the mailman all the time! He'd never think of putting in a complaint on her! I think if it were me, I'd clear it with the post office or at least try to defend myself!
