I live in Texas in a city with a leash law. I met a woman once who had a very well trained chihuahua. She would take it with her to visit in nursing homes. Well, one day she was pulling weeds in the flower bed in her front yard with her chihuahua next to her with no leash. Animal control came by, stopped and gave her a ticket. She refused to sign it because she was on her own property, and her dog was not causing any problems. She ended up being arrested and had to call a friend to get her out of jail. If you met this lady, you would never believe this could have happened to her. Very, very nice person. She said the going to jail part was really scarry and embarassing. She shouldn't have gotten so upset, but the animal control person over-reacted, too. Strange things can happen to nice people and nice pets. |
