I know what you mean about being able to see the wheels turning -- Teddy is that way. Max just likes to be a good boy, but Teddy is a thinker and very imaginative.

| ![]() Just reading this thread and it's pretty interesting. I'm not too sure if the size of a dog plays into how they can learn. Remy is a little one who is a year old and 2 1/2 lbs. I started training him when I got him at 4 mths old. I taught him to sit, lay, stay, heel (when we walk) and to give me his paw to shake (this one was the longest for him to pick up which was about 3 hours of training within a day). He is so easy to train but of course he is very treat motivated and loves the praises. He knows the names of his toys ex. Bring me your ball, bone, squirrel or mouse (that toy he stole from the cat). I find Yorkies to be very intelligent but I believe if they don't want to do something they just aren't going to do it.

| ![]() Teddy has been on house arrest since yesterday since I caught him marking. I have to have him tethered to me now so my hubby doesn't flip out. Anyway, I caught him biting his leash cuz he hates it. I told him NO and he looked at me with the whites showing at the sides of his eyes (you know the look - I love it, personally!) and he stopped. Then, I gave him a sideways glance to see if he was doing it again a few moments later. Of course, he was so I looked at him straight on and you know what he did? He started licking the leash like it was his best friend! I laughed, looked away, and did the sideways glance. He was biting it again! My teen came into the room and looked at him. You know what he was doing by now. He was licking the leash. God, I love this little dog. |

| ![]() This breed is very intelligent! They are very food driven even though they can be picky just find the right treats or toy driven some would do anything for there toy but all in all praise is what gets the overall results and makes you and the dog happy. Properly trained this breed could star in a show if it wanted! |

| ![]() Adopted Cody is 3 y/o, extremely food / treat motivated. I just taught him to roll over in one hour, at 5 to 7 minute sessions though out the day. Now he will do it on hand command. He is now like a run away wheel lol, he will do several roll overs with just hand command. My perfect lil boy. I am soooo proud of him.

We are considering the overwhelming plethora of options that are the belly bands...haha. I have found some Sherpa lined ones that I am considering..do you have any recommendations? I've never used them before! He is marking on doors, baseboards and stair bannisters @ the minute. I can't see it progressing to actual furniture...yeah, let's not go there!!! I'm not sure that he will stop w/o band intervention, will he? He is so anxiety ridden with the leash, though. I'm not sure his mind can sustain the traumatic effects of it for 8 weeks which is the recommended time for his tethering. Argh, I'm very new @ this marking phenomena so have no clue! | |

http://www.doggiepeepads.com/ If he is peeing a lot then I recommend belly bands where you put incontinence pads in (you buy them and cut them to size). Note that feminine hygeine pads do not work. For some really nice looking belly bands, here is a facebook link ... all of the money from those belly bands goes to Yorkie Haven Rescue...the belly bands are really nice and satin lined. ![]() https://www.facebook.com/pages/Best-...4840?ref=br_tf
