Just reading this thread and it's pretty interesting. I'm not too sure if the size of a dog plays into how they can learn. Remy is a little one who is a year old and 2 1/2 lbs. I started training him when I got him at 4 mths old. I taught him to sit, lay, stay, heel (when we walk) and to give me his paw to shake (this one was the longest for him to pick up which was about 3 hours of training within a day). He is so easy to train but of course he is very treat motivated and loves the praises. He knows the names of his toys ex. Bring me your ball, bone, squirrel or mouse (that toy he stole from the cat). I find Yorkies to be very intelligent but I believe if they don't want to do something they just aren't going to do it.
