| We were 15 degrees F. this morning I do feel warm (I think) when I see the minus 10 and and such. They said we have some cold weather on the way Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

But all those times were better than the time the bus tried going up the hill, only to start sliding down backwards, and then sideways. That was scary! They made everyone get off the bus, halfway up the hill and walk. So many weren't dressed for the weather. A bunch if us huddled in the fish & chippy, as the owner was kind enough to let people use his phone to call for a ride. We all still had to walk up the hill, but at least we had rides waiting or us by the time we got to the top. Funniest part was there was a shop just a few up from the chippy that had plastic sledges in the window. Most of us went in and bought one. Loaded our shopping on the sledge and pulled it up the hill...about 15-20 of us all pulling sledges filled with shopping! Ahhh the memories

New cars are sold with a built in block heater OOPS that reminds me, I have to find out where the dang thing is in my van... This morning my windows were frozen shut... I have natural gas and I am on an equalized billing plan, otherwise my winter bills would knock my boots off. I'd rather economize on A/C and keep warm in the winter, hey a little bit of summer heat nevva hurt anyone! But a lot of folks up North are on electric heat and O M G Their bills would make you faint! Frozen skin yup tis why you have scarves and when it is really cold a Balacava works well. We also have thingeys sorry don't know what they are called, but are round and can scrunch down into your neck, and if the cold wind blows you unfold and place up over your nose and cheeks, pull the toque down over your forehead and ya good to go. Then you need good mitts - forget the gloves, unless ski gloves, but mitts work well. And layering is the key. I have 3 pairs of long johns, in Toronto they only have come out a dozen times or so, but when you need them, you need them! We are kindof tough for city folks :-)

| I had to take my son to his yearly checkup at the doctor, otherwise I would not have left the house. I love when my phone gives a weather alert that says you could get frostbite on skin exposed to the cold temps for only 20 minutes. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Yeah I think vaguely think Celsius and Fahreinheit meet somewhere in the -40 or more degrees. -40 Celsius roughly equivalent to -40 Fahreinheit

| Our vehicles have block heaters we plug in to keep the engine warm so it will start. We have the best of all worlds. The change in seasons. By any standards our heating is actually pretty reasonable here. Stay warm everyone and have a great New Year. |

| Block heaters..how interesting. I get that you could plug it in at home, but what about when youre parked at work? Do many places have plug in points? Are they free? Or a meter type thing? I find the nuances of living in various places interesting.

| Several of us close to Dallas just felt an earthquake. The couch I'm sitting just kind of moved! Tibbe roused & went right back to sleep.

| I was, too, until I got on Twitter & read all the bad jokes we all kept generating about it!!! Dallas was all atwitter about it and I think every single North Texas citizen with a Twitter account checked in to comment! What did we ever do B4 Twitter? Odd feeling, isn't it, just sitting there and you feel your couch or chair moving? This one was registered as a 3.5! Some people in tall buildings in downtown Dallas said their buildings swayed a bit, things moved around on their desks. Wow, I've experienced a real earthquake - and while still in Texas!
