The only place I understand not allowing well behaved pets is in a restaurant and even then, I think my pups are healthier than a lot of humans who sit in them.
I would definitely have an issue with children in lingerie departments as well! Totally inappropriate.

I can understand not taking them into a dinner or places where food is being served. I myself would never do that but I am tempted to try out my newest find.... I got a pet stroller at a garage sale for only $10. Took it home made a new cover for the pad and a matching harness for Ruby. So yea . . Im interested in seeing how far I can get in some of the so called pet friendly stores.

Granted... I don't think my DH will want to be with me when I do try !!

If you have a small dog on the floor at say a big pet event they will get stepped on so you can either not bring them or take a chance of them getting hurt. Mine is 17 pounds way to heavy to carry so a stroller is the best option. Even if I let her walk she gets nervous and scared she is going to be stepped on that she begs to be picked up. Walking is not an option for her at this time though because of bad knees but I guess I shoukd have either made her suffer and walk or left her at home right? A stroller has also been used by by many of us here when our dogs have had surgeries and are on long long crate rests so we can keep them with us, take them outside for some air or a walk and just get them out of the crate. They also work well at vet offices where germs are terrible! My very healthy little girl has gotten very sick twice just from going to the surgeons office because it turns into an er vet a night with very sick dogs. Still think it's so hilarious? Let me guess you feel like same way about dog clothes? I'm really offended by your it's hilarious quote it was just rude and shows that you do not know what they are really used for and how much of a useful tool they can be!

ok...so I know this has nothing to do with the subject ... but this comment made me boiling angry. I am a mom to three boys....who aren't always the best behaved. And while I do my best to keep them home when they are sick....there are times when they have to come with me. Their dad is in the Navy and is gone....quite often. I live 800 miles away from my family to be here with my husband when he is home. So while I respect your right to an opinion.....u may wanna try to walk a mile before making such a hateful comment.

Try being an older person who has to wear a mask when the go out because sick people won't stay home........ It drives me crazy when people go anywhere when there sick period there is no reason to spread those germs and make everyone else sick.

Default Funsies?

I like to take my dog with me as much as possible. I would use a carrier to contain him so that he does not offend anyone, if he is tired, or if I do not want him trodden on in a busy place. When I wanted to walk on the pier I would have liked him to walk with me, but was denied access even if I put him in a carrier.

I agree with this. I want going to respond to it, but I'm glad someone else did. I am a stay at home mom with no family near me to help out so if my child has a cold and i need groceries, guess what, he's coming with me. I do try and be responsible and keep him from touching stuff. No kid is perfect, they sometimes throw tantrums, but that doesn't mean we never take them to the store because it may annoy others.

I do understand there are folks with lower immune systems....my mother has psoriatic arthritis, so just a little cold for her takes her down pretty hard. And our youngest has asthma...so he has the same issue. Germs are everywhere...but it doesn't change the fact that sometimes we have no choice...it's not an option 99% of the time to leave my child home. Sick or healthy...or wether there are germs. And times when I am sick....and the only caregiver....I either go grocery shopping or my kids don't eat. While I love all of our animals and treat them like they are my kids ...I don't think animals should be allowed in places where there is food....which is just my opinion on the OP's original topic. While it does bother me to see a dog sitting at a table at a restaurant or in a shopping cart at the grocery store I I would rather see them there than left in the car....because who knows maybe they are travelling or just came from a vet appointment for all I know. My point is....I don't judge. And took offense to the judgement in the comment I quoted earlier. ...because you never know the situation.

I am a mother and a grandmother and I was a single parent. My child behaved in public and if he chose not to, he did not go with me. Simple as that. I don't believe children should be allowed to be a nuisance any more than a pet. I didn't have family when I was raising him either. When he was sick and blowing green snot, he stayed home. He didn't go to school or stores to spread his germs, not did he go out and get sicker. I simply found a way. There are so many drive ups and delivery services, that I see no need to drag sick children around.
Nothing hateful about what I said at. all. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my child and my grandchildren.

I was a single parent and found a way not to drag my son to stores.

As for tantrums...they really don't bother me. I know that childen will do that and best to let them do it and ignore them or they keep doing it. Crying children don't bother me either. It is the ones who run amok in and out of dressing rooms, under the clothing racks, pulling fabric bolts off of shelves (yes, I saw this one day in Joann's and the mother just walked away...told them to come along with her and left the fabric on the floor...while I was not allowed to bring my pups in a stroller. lol) .. It is the unruly stuff that bothers me...not normal childhood stuff.
As for children being sick...if it is an emergency it is one thing, but people shopping for shoes and clothing and such in Walmart with kids coughing their head off offends me. Take the poor baby home and put him to bed. And, save the world from the germs!

I think it is an option probably 95% of the time. How many days is a child ill? I can understand some...but people walking around in stores with hacking kids who don't even cover their mouths is offensive imho. As for your kids not eating...there are plenty of drive through places to get food! I can see a food store seriously more than I can any other kind of shopping.

Honestly, I think it just depends on each individual store in your area. There are lots of different stores. Unless the brand/chain store actually advertises "We Allow Dogs!!" nationwide I think it would vary at each store.

I'm speaking for myself here when I say that 99% of the time if I'm going somewhere my kids go with me. My husband is gone anywhere from 3 weeks to 7 months at a time. He's in and out on the ship when he is not on cruise. That being said if one or three of the kids are sick I keep them home. But if I need to go out (not for shoes or clothes) for something necessary. They go. If there's a drive thru I use it. All I'm saying is there was judgement in your comment. Not everyone brings their coughing snotty nosed kids out in public because they are irresponsible.

I'm fine with sneezing/coughing kids (I'm a kid myself) as long as none of them sneeze/cough into the air or on me (ew!). I think it depends on proper sneezing/coughing technique. Sneeze into your elbow. Pull your shirt up over your mouth and cough there, or cough into your elbow.
