I can understand not taking them into a dinner or places where food is being served. I myself would never do that but I am tempted to try out my newest find.... I got a pet stroller at a garage sale for only $10. Took it home made a new cover for the pad and a matching harness for Ruby. So yea . . Im interested in seeing how far I can get in some of the so called pet friendly stores. Granted... I don't think my DH will want to be with me when I do try !!

| ok...so I know this has nothing to do with the subject ... but this comment made me boiling angry. I am a mom to three boys....who aren't always the best behaved. And while I do my best to keep them home when they are sick....there are times when they have to come with me. Their dad is in the Navy and is gone....quite often. I live 800 miles away from my family to be here with my husband when he is home. So while I respect your right to an opinion.....u may wanna try to walk a mile before making such a hateful comment. |

| I like to take my dog with me as much as possible. I would use a carrier to contain him so that he does not offend anyone, if he is tired, or if I do not want him trodden on in a busy place. When I wanted to walk on the pier I would have liked him to walk with me, but was denied access even if I put him in a carrier. |

| I do understand there are folks with lower immune systems....my mother has psoriatic arthritis, so just a little cold for her takes her down pretty hard. And our youngest has asthma...so he has the same issue. Germs are everywhere...but it doesn't change the fact that sometimes we have no choice...it's not an option 99% of the time to leave my child home. Sick or healthy...or wether there are germs. And times when I am sick....and the only caregiver....I either go grocery shopping or my kids don't eat. While I love all of our animals and treat them like they are my kids ...I don't think animals should be allowed in places where there is food....which is just my opinion on the OP's original topic. While it does bother me to see a dog sitting at a table at a restaurant or in a shopping cart at the grocery store I I would rather see them there than left in the car....because who knows maybe they are travelling or just came from a vet appointment for all I know. My point is....I don't judge. And took offense to the judgement in the comment I quoted earlier. ...because you never know the situation. Last edited by chickensmith; 09-21-2014 at 06:56 PM. |

As for tantrums...they really don't bother me. I know that childen will do that and best to let them do it and ignore them or they keep doing it. Crying children don't bother me either. It is the ones who run amok in and out of dressing rooms, under the clothing racks, pulling fabric bolts off of shelves (yes, I saw this one day in Joann's and the mother just walked away...told them to come along with her and left the fabric on the floor...while I was not allowed to bring my pups in a stroller. lol) .. It is the unruly stuff that bothers me...not normal childhood stuff. As for children being sick...if it is an emergency it is one thing, but people shopping for shoes and clothing and such in Walmart with kids coughing their head off offends me. Take the poor baby home and put him to bed. And, save the world from the germs!

I can see a food store seriously more than I can any other kind of shopping.

| Honestly, I think it just depends on each individual store in your area. There are lots of different stores. Unless the brand/chain store actually advertises "We Allow Dogs!!" nationwide I think it would vary at each store.

| I'm fine with sneezing/coughing kids (I'm a kid myself) as long as none of them sneeze/cough into the air or on me (ew!). I think it depends on proper sneezing/coughing technique. Sneeze into your elbow. Pull your shirt up over your mouth and cough there, or cough into your elbow.
