When we got my poodles I was 7 and we had 2 other dogs (4 total), so the poodles only went in the car for the vet, groomer, and occasionally ice cream. They were awful in the car, with strangers, and other dogs. I don't want Lola to be like that, it made things very stressful for the poodles and us. So I do think part of being a good pet owner is regularly taking the dog for a car ride, for something positive or just for a ride, and exposing them to strangers in different environments. | |

| I was the type of person who thought it was wrong to take dogs into stores then I was in a dog friendly area of town where they allow dogs into stores and to be outside on the terrace at restaurants and I saw what the lure was first hand It was a very enjoyable experience and a life style I enjoy so if you havent ever been a part of that it is best not to judge those who have..

What someone does with their own child whether that child be a skin or fur kid has nothing to do what so ever with this thread. I think that some of the comments/opinions about what a parent should do with a sick child or how you feel about it were way insensitive. You all might want to consider that not everyone has the leisure or convenience of leaving a sick child at home or have access to an on call sitter as needed. None of us know the others circumstances and I think your opinion of what someone does with their children is none of our business just as what we, you or I choose to do with our fur kids is none of your business either. Things get way too sensitive when you bring people family into a conversation that in my opinion never should have been brought up. And just so you know this is not me being the polite police or trying to tell anyone how they should post. This is just me saying that family should be Off Limits !!!!

| 2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | No maam' not at all. Not my intention to do so at all, just stressing the fact that I feel that family should never become a topic of discussion. People tend to take things that have to do with family personally, as you can see.

| Robyn used to bring Gucci into every store she went in to. To date, I don't recall her ever mentioning being asked to leave. She has since quit bringing him into grocery stores. She uses one of those carriers that is the size of a purse. He just sits there with his head sticking out even though the zipper is completely open. When I go with her, we've had the most wonderful comments by total strangers. Gucci is an absolute social animal. |

| I have to admit, before my Yorkies, I didn't understand people who took their dogs everywhere. I thought it was funny. Now I am one of those people! My father is just as bad. We don't want to leave the dogs home alone, and we know how much Max and Teddy *love* going places. Our Home Depot has always had a "No Dogs" sign, but I used to take Max in with me. If I have both dogs, I go to Lowes. We go there to walk around on rainy days. Our Lowes is really quiet in the morning. Our post office kicked me out, however, when I had Max in my arms. Most of the people there don't care, but one woman does. Relative to the kids -- my complaint is only when the parent makes no effort to stop an undesirable behavior. Worse is when the parent encourages it, like 'scream singing' in cavernous WalMart. Ouch, my ears. Or running around, knocking over my geriatric dad. I have nephews and helped take care of them, so I know what a chore it is to wrangle 4 toddlers at one time. It is possible.
