| Many people have allergies to perfume that people wear or phobias to screaming kids or sick people. My dog is probably cleaner then at least have the kids in the store. What about if the dog is in there purse or stroller?

| Joanns was downright nasty to me about Lola, all they had to do was ask me to leave. Quote:
How was the expo? I went to one in NJ a few months ago and it was awful, we had to leave because they were BLASTING music and it was upsetting Lola and me. I have no guilt about bringing Lola with me. She's quiet, friendly, and doesn't shed. I do keep her away if I can tell she's making someone uncomfortable. Other people cause me extreme discomfort in stores every day. I have sensory issues and screaming kids, whistleing, humming, yelling, perfume, cigarette smoke, deodorant sprays, etc. are barely tolerable to me. Seriously it takes all my self control to not flip out about these things. Lola helps me stay calm. | |

| Me too! I also agree that the more wealthy a neighborhood, the more accepting of dogs. Pets are BIG business.

Plus with all the traveling I do w/ Jax, sometimes it's just not convenient to bring him home first. I don't see why him either walking or being in the cart is any different than a 3 year old running around grabbing and touching everything. At least mine is on a leash ![]() Luckily this area is pretty dog friendly in general. Going into downtown Annapolis, almost all clothing stores will allow them in too. But there's always idiots that ruin it for the rest of us with well behaved dogs in public.

| Unless we're at a petstore, Billi is always in my purse and I've managed to take her in plenty of stores (even a couple restaurants) without anyone saying anything. Most people don't mind her in the purse, since she isn't touching anything. I think one store asked me to put her in the bag all the way (I have the Jaraden, where she can hang out a little if she wants to) and no biggie, I just popped her in and closed the opening on her. I was allowed (actually, requested) to take her out and let her run around at Hancock fabrics in my town tho. They got a kick out of her.

That's sad that the employees at your local JoAnn's aren't as pleasant as at mine. I love all of the ladies there, always very friendly and helpful. They should be I spend a gob of money there !! We have 3 off that list. I have never even tried to take my pups into any store other than Pets Supplies Plus, so maybe I'll give JoAnn's and TJ Maxx a try.

| Our local Lowe's allows dogs. In fact, on really hot, humid days we'll head there and get in a few laps around the store (while shopping) for exercise. The concrete floor is cool and we are extremely careful not to let Joni get anything in her mouth, step on anything or annoy anyone. With all the money we've spent there over the years I can't see them kicking us out! |

| I shop a lot at the Ralph Lauren factory stores. A lot of my clothes come from there because they are so pet friendly. Even their retail stores allow pets. Katie enjoys going into Williams Sonoma Outlet because she sits in her carrier in the cart, and she loves saying hello to people. They sell food, but none of it open. At one time, they didn't allow dogs, but their policy has changed. She is always well behaved, friendly, and clean. The outlet center is on the way to the east end of Long Island, and many people stop en route to their summer homes in the Hamptons, so the stores are generally friendly. |

The only place I understand not allowing well behaved pets is in a restaurant and even then, I think my pups are healthier than a lot of humans who sit in them.
