| I would probably feel better (meaning less confused) if they were called Biewer Yorkies and the YTCA accepted them as a new color. |

| Now the million dollar question is why these breeders arent dnaing the biewer and dnaing the parti and taking the results to the AKC. My only thought for a reason why they arent doing that is they never wanted to be established as a separate breed they want to be established as originating from a yorkie so thats why they are not

| Why? Apparently, through my research, BTCAis the club that has kept the most accurate records. So, to me, this limitation makes sense. Last edited by BobbiB; 08-26-2014 at 02:24 PM. Reason: Misspellings |

| Hi Shelbysmom. I think that anyone who has both a Yorkie and a Biewer will tell you unconditionally they are two different breeds. I am not getting into this Biewer vs Biewer Yorkshire Terrier vs Yorkie issue. Been there, done that and it wasn't pretty I have both a Yorkie and a Biewer and love them to pieces, but my Yorkie is cautious and more stand-offish than my Biewer who actually thinks he is a human scarf when he see someone laying down. He is a real lover and totally fearless. Two different dogs, two different breeds. |

| Because there are unton many more biewers out there that arent established with the AKC and they arent going away and I just think the AKC should take a good look at all of it

All that said, I read this few months ago, and it is a bit foggy, so I may not be completely correct. | |

| This is the breed standard. My dogs are registered with the BBCA which has high standards reguarding the breeding of biewers and follow the original standards. They require dna testing on all puppies registered with the club. You can absolutely not breed with anything except another biewer. I know I'm new to biewers but from my understanding BTCA has in the past attempted to change the weight standard and was at one point breeding biewers and yorkies. Iknow how I feel about that but will do what I feel is right if my girls are good enough to breed. Personally I don't care if they are recognized by the AKC. AKC just means their pedigree is known. They set a standard yes, but anyone can register their dogs no matter how far off the standard they are. Then the AKC collects the fees. |
