| Keeping long hair nice while wearing the buddy belt Lola's hair keeps getting bunched up and messy in the area between the buddy belt and her neck. I put the belt on, brush her leg hair down, hold up the BB and brush her back her down, and brush sideways in front of the BB to smooth down the hair above it. She still ends up with the hair bunched up and messy looking pretty quickly. What am I doing wrong? Her skirt hair is level with her body and I cut her legs down a good bit. |

| I brush my boys before putting on the harness. It is a bit of a trick putting the harness on and getting the hair in the right place so that it doesn't cause problems. My boys have full coats, including chest hair. I have to make sure to pull their 'arm feathers' through the arm holes. I think this prevents bunching where the belt is on the back. I lift the body with one hand wrapped under the chest, and I think this holds their chest hair in the right place while I lift the BB with the other hand. It works best when they are standing. If they sit down while putting it on, that seems to cause a bit of a problem.

Lola's chest hair is pretty short, a bit over an inch. I cut it for the summer. I do pull the hair through the arm holes, I think part of the problem is the hair in front of the BB is too short to stay where it should. You can see the length in the post, it's grown a bit since then http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...r-haircut.html I'll try having her stand, I usually do the harness with her sitting on my lap.

| Adorable! I love her summer cut. Definitely try having her stand when you put the harness on. Also do the combing/brushing first. Right after my boys have had a bath and their hair hangs right, the hair falls perfectly into place with the harness. As we get closer to bath day, and I start brushing less out of laziness, then there is a little more poof to deal with. I force myself to comb out the front end for the harness.

I combed her hair and put the harness on with her standing up and then did some adjusting. It still got messed up, it was a bit better but still knotty and puffy. Luckily her hair is really silky and doesn't knot much. She does need a bath, maybe that'll help too.

| I think my problem is Lola needs a bigger BB. She has a size 3, but she's up to 14" around, so I think she needs a 3.5. I'm currently using the 2nd to last hole, I can close it on the middle hole but it's tight. I think the bigger leg holes would help the hair issue. BB's site says pet valu has BB's now, hopefully she'll be able to try on a 3.5. |

| Buddy Belt? Hi! We're new to the forum, and have had our little guy only 9 months. So, may we ask, what is the BuddyBelt mentioned here? Thanks! Last edited by Ronbev; 08-23-2014 at 03:43 PM. Reason: Misspelling |

| It's a leather harness, click the link in Maximo's signature. They're really great quality and don't put pressure on the throat. |

| ShowGirlLola, is 14 inches a 'tight' measurement? Pull the tape directly against the body and don't add any extra room. Teddy and Max are 14" in the chest. Teddy wears the 3.5 on a tight setting. I put Max in the 4 because of his upper leg muscles. BTW, I have a Size 3.5 Purple Croc marked down in my store. I have 2 in stock.

| If I pull the tape measure really tight I can get it to 13, but it cuts into her skin. Holding it tight but not uncomfortable it's 14. Lola needs to lose a little weight, 1/2lb max, I've been sick so she isn't getting enough exercise and my mom is overdoing the treats again (3 buddy buscuits a night as a just because treat). She's between my poodles with body type, one was very tall and extremely thin, the other was short and muscular/a bit chubby. Thanks for telling me about purple croc, unfortunately I'm not a fan of the croc texture. I really want another Knight harness, funnyfur has it but it doesn't have rhinestones . Hopefully pet valu will have one so I can look at the size before spending money. |
