Keeping long hair nice while wearing the buddy belt

I took some pictures of Lola's messed up hair from her BB, this is mild, sometimes it's much worse.

I brush her hair before I put the harness on
Put it on a hole too big
Brush the hair into her leg hole
Brush some of the hair above the BB so it lays to the side, and some so it lays flat underneath (not sure how to describe)

Don't put the harness on a hole too big -- not good for the fit, and creates problems with hair. It should be fitted just right for safety and hair. If fitted too big, the harness won't move with the body and will rub hair.

Once the BB is on and fastened, forget combing or moving hair around. The hair will not go where it should be, or hang smoothly. The hair has to be arranged before the belt is fastened (at least for my guys it does).

I put my hand under the chest and sort of lift the dog into the harness (held with other hand). This puts their chest hair in the right place. Before I buckle, I make sure leg 'feathers' are in the right place. This means the hair extending all the way to the top of the shoulder.

I will say car seat tethers are our biggest problem. My guys move around a lot in the car and the tether rubs all over the back, below the harness line.

Here is Teddy on the right demonstrating how a BB that is not fitted properly (too big) will cause hair problems. His leg hair is a mess. He is wearing Max's size 4, and he should have been in a 3.5:

Thanks. I forgot to add I put the harness on loosely, fix her hair, then tighten it.

I thought the harness was messing up her hair because it was too loose on the 2nd to last hole so I tightened it to the middle hole and it cut into her chest. I could feel it denting her little bit of chest fat.
