| Here's the link to the best and worst States for animal welfare. http://aldf.org/wp-content/uploads/2...s-Rankings.pdf Megansmomma, Illinois has held the number 1 spot for several years running.

| YT Addict | I would never hesitate to call and report a dog no matter how large, old left in a car. In FL it only takes about 5-8 minutes for the car temp to get over 90 degrees. I would love to have them sit in a hot car for ten minutes without air running and the windows shut just so they could experience what a dog or pup goes through. Oh, and they should have to put on a fur coat before doing it!! They should be arrested on the spot I think. Leave your pet at home - you are not doing them any favors by taking them with you. NOW, during the winter months that's a different thing (I'm talking FL now - fifty degrees). We take our pets for rides in the car but not to run errands unless on a cold day. |

Public awareness is important. Maybe we could get Walmart and other stores to put up a poster or flyer in their pet department warning of heat danger or tape these to windows of cars where dogs are left.

Oh, wait - I must have been dreaming there for a minute - Walmart or none of them would likely spend one dime of their own money to help dogs left in hot cars in their parking lots this way!!! Guess it's still and always up to us.

| Just slightly off topic, but similar jerk response. I was walking my little guy yesterday and went by a house that has a larger dog that they sometimes keep out on the front yard NOT on a leash. When I see that, I always detour and do not head down the block. By little guy thinks he's a big shot and can have a big mouth when trying to "protect" us. But yesterday there were cars parked in the driveway so I didn't see the dog out front. The owner was on the lawn and the dog was hidden between the two cars walking around. When we passed in front of the cars his dog darted towards us (luckily and for whatever reason I have no idea my guy kept his trap shut thankfully) however it scared me because I had no idea if the dog would stop or not when the guy yelled at his dog. The dog did obey the command and stop and I kept walking by so as not to stop and antagonize the either dog but when I got to the next house's yard, I turned around and said "you should have him on a leash" and the man yelled "You should mind your own f*ckin business"! This infuriates me for a number of reasons. One he may know his dog is well trained, however, no one else does and it is frightening when walking a little dog to have a big dog come running up to you and stop just short of you. Also, dogs are animals and you never know what might set them off to attack another dog or person and a "he never did anything like that before" doesn't matter squat after something happens! Also, why should I mind my own business. Our city has a leash law and he is breaking the law and that is my business!! My daughter said I should have yelled back "you should have more respect than to talk to a lady like that". Unfortunately I had to tell her that in my experience... people you have no respect for the law, usually don't have any respect for anybody!! Sorry for the rant and being a bit off topic here, but I recognized the jerk factor and couldn't help but comment!! LOL |

| YT 2000 Club Member | Stupid idiot for leaving dogs in the hot car! God bless you for jumping in there and being concerning. I would do the same thing. I hate to see dogs in hot cars. Total cruelty and I would dial 911 immediately. |

| So frustrating! Why oh why do people leave their pets in cars?! I am happy to see some businesses like CVS pharmacy install signs in their parking lots telling customers not to leave pets in the car. Would like to see these signs in every parking lot.

| Wow that was an extreme reaction (on their part). It's awful that people think it's ok to leave a dog in a hot car. I think the employees are told to stay out of fights, just like they aren't supposed to confront shop lifters. It's also possible they didn't do anything because there was a story about a walmart employee getting fired for calling the cops about a dog locked in a car. | I think you are missing my point. It was like the girl ignored me when I was speaking to her. Yes, I went up to her and asked her a question but she ignored me like I wasn't even there.

| They say as a form of abuse ignoring is worse than bullying, as it's as if you don't exist or matter. You're so beneath the person, you don't even rate being spoken too. I grew up in a home where an adult family member never spoke to me for years, it's is very abusive. So I understand why it stayed with you and annoyed you. It's so rude.
