| You're a good person for speaking up! Most people would have only thought what you said, being too afraid to speak up. I get sworn at a lot for speaking up for dogs...everything from leaving a dog in a car to jerking a dog by the neck, etc. However, I learned to swear as well as them and don't mind letting loose when it comes to dogs...it's gotten ugly at times. However, PetsMart usually backs me up when their customers leave a dog in the car, they will page them, then come outside and try to tell them how wrong it is...although they usually go back inside when the swearing starts.

| With no sweat glands except on her hands and feet so that she can't sweat to help her cool off, and desperately try to fight the heat by panting.

| Poor, poor doggie. Baked to death while his "loving" family shopped nearby. How horrible! No charges - that makes it 100 times worse. How can these people keep doing this over and over and over when they hear about it happening all the time on TV and on the internet, newspaper and still don't learn to take any care for their dog?

| The saddest part is that their kind are also the ones that also leave a baby or a little kid locked up in a car. |

.The high here was 110 degrees!!!! And the only reason the Humane Assn' said the dog's body temp was 110 was bc their thermometer didn't go any higher . So horribly sad, such a selfish unnecessary death.

| I was shocked by responses to a post on Facebook complaining about "vigilantes" breaking car windows whenever they see dogs left in a car. One person proudly wrote that they leave their dog in the car when it is 90 degrees, but it is okay because the dog has water and the person runs the a/c on high for a few minutes before exiting the car. She also wrote that she is gone for *only* 15 minutes. I do not think that the people responding understand that 1) a dog's body temperature is much higher than a human's, 2) car interiors heat up really, really fast. I wish these people would put a large thermometer in their car to see just how hot it gets when they leave their dog. They should also try sitting in the car with their dog once to see how comfortable it is. I like to take Max and Teddy everywhere I can. Dad rides along and one of us waits in the car with the dogs if we make a stop. However, when it is 80+ degrees with the sun shining, it is often too hot even with the car windows down. So, the dogs stay home.

| I looked up the list of laws for the various states concerning leaving pets in a hot car. Was very sad to see the number of states that have no law on the books at all! People who live in states that do have laws should do all they can to inform the management of department stores and shopping plazas about the law and how they can help to make sure no animal dies in their parking lot. Always having the number of your local humane organization and police handy may help save some poor animal from suffering at the hands of these fools. I'm sure most of these people who put these animals through so much suffering would all claim to care about their pets. After all, the dog loves to ride in the car, right? There is no law that regulates common sense so people who are able to help those who cannot speak for themselves need to be loud and clear about the subject. We live in a time where respect for any kind of life is dwindling but there are still many out there that will speak up to stop the suffering of animals. |

| YT Addict | Just last week in my hometown, we had a a woman leave 4 dogs in the car with it being 98 degrees while she went to Walmart and all 4 of them died. it is ridiculous and senseless and i was so glad to see that our cops charged her with 4 counts of animal abuse along with some other charges and she was arrested. I don't understand how anyone would think it is okay to leave a dog in a car when it is really hot outside.

| Always call the police! If the people who leaves the dogs in the car look suspicious or give any reason, the officer will run them for warrants. More often than not, people have warrants. It will really mess up their day. I got into it with a blonde lady who though she was so cute at rite aid a few days ago. My daughter and I grabbed a few items and walked out the door to find a very hot dog in a jeep. All windows up tight. I went back in and looked at all the customers, figuring it was her jeep...(The bumper sticker said, "Silly boys, jeeps are for girls.") She had been yelling at her two-year-old for quite some time for not acting properly. She was running all over the store. When I asked her if it was her jeep she just looked at me and said, "I know what you're going to say..." I asked her again. She again only said "I know what you're going to say." So I figured this is confirmation it was her jeep. I told her she needed to go get her dog out of the jeep. Trying to be nice I said I'm sure you didn't mean to hurt him, he must be the love of your life. She told me..."No, that's my mom's dog". My daughter and I went to the parking lot and sat in our car watching hers in the rearview mirror. Shortly she came out still screaming at her daughter and she put her daughter in the passenger seat she jumped in the front seat not bothering to buy buckle in her daughter. I followed her, I was going to call the cops but she saw that I was behind her and made a few quick turns and drove like a bat outta hell to get away from me...
