| Stories about how you picked your babies! Chloe was really shy and didn't want to look at me when I picked her up, but I picked her because I just knew she's the puppy I wanted. When I put her on the floor she HOPPED.. it was so cute!! And she had a little speck of white hair on 1 of her toes, I never found out why yorkies might have that but I just loved it because she was different than the other babies, lol. She was 1.5lbs and a tiny little baby when I took her home.. best decision ever. Sometimes I think I'm crazy because of my constant shopping for puppy things.. but then I come to yorkietalk and know that everyone here is just as crazy about their babies as I am about mine, lol! I tried to do a photoshoot for yorkietalk the other day but she was just not having it.. she didn't want the bow.. and she didn't want the dress! I might just have to put a baby pic for now until she lets me do a photoshoot, (she thinks she's the boss) LOL

| Keep working with Chloe and the camera. Make it fun and use treats. That way she won't grow up being camera shy like my boys. I was like you and just knew Max was the one. We were not able to meet in person, but the instant his picture popped up, I knew he was my puppy (after looking for at least 2 years!). I was looking for a girl, but my boy found me. His personality is exactly what we expected from his pictures. Teddy is Max's full brother and we chose him based on the breeder's description. He has many things in common with Max and his own little quirks.

| What a specialmoment to look back on I remember the day I chose my precious and wonderful little lilah and I feel exactly the same way - she was just the one. The breeder had picked up another sweet little girl and been talking about her but she just wasn't it. Every time I looked at this adorable pile of bouncing happy puppies it was she who caught my eye. There were puppy play pens and cuddle beds everywhere and in every corner and I love my yorkie paraphernalia graced every magnet coffee cup and sticky pad around and her kitchen table was a delightful sewing parlour covered in dog dresses and fabulous fabrics. The day I came to pick her up I wore a pink sparkly dress with a satin sash and a fabulous sparkling tulle skirt that trailed down in the back (I had bought it to go on a dream date my love and I went on that included the swan lake ballet) I wanted to be on absolute celebration mode and I was! Her puppy palace and excercise pen had been waiting next to my bed for a month and her tower of doggie drawers was already stuffed with grooming supplies food and clothing. I had been reading about yorkie's and attending events that included them for four years prior- I was so ready and she has been my perfect match since day one. I am so lucky for my little lilah charm

| The story of how I got Keegan is a cautionary tale, so I won't go into that. (I'm just glad I have the little guy.) How I picked Merry Piper from the furry chaos that was her litter...Well, I didn't! She picked me. I was talking with the breeder and looking at the pups, and over and over this tiny girl pup kept climbing into my left palm. I had wanted a girl who would be closer to Keegan's size (he's over 10 lbs.) when fully grown so they could play without worry, so my attention was elsewhere. The other little girls were roly-poly and confident, but this smaller one was persistent in seeking my attention without my even noticing her maneuvering. Eventually, I just held her up in my hands and looked into her eyes. She met my gaze as though she were saying, "YEAH! HERE I am! ME! HI!" And then she squirmed to get closer to me, snuggling in as if she already knew me. With the breeder, her daughter, and my mom smiling at this brave little pup's determination to be noticed and loved, I realized I had my girl. The bigger, robust female puppies were gorgeous with shiny, dark coats, but the wee one with the hints of silver won my heart. We had a long drive ahead of us and she rode contentedly the whole way, accepting her new family--human and furry--as though she'd been expecting them to enter her life all along. Keegan was among those who had made the trip to get her, so when we got home, it was just a surprise for our formerly feral cat to suddenly have a new friend. A girl! He shocked us all by deciding that she was his puppy and to this day he entertains her, snuggles with her, wrestles and protects her. Merry Piper picked the right family for herself. She's just that darned smart.

| Blazer's mom is my neighbor's dog and I delivered Blazer and his litter mates. Blazer was the first born and was stuck but the mom started chewing at the cord so I pulled him out before he died. After all six pups were delivered we started naming them and I asked my daughter what she would name a pup if she could have one- she said "Blazer" so that's what we named the first born. The next day the breeder offered me a pup for having saved them (Blazer had been stuck and the runt was having breathing issues, anything could have happened if I hadn't been there) and inward just drawn towards Blazer. As the pups got older I loved his color the most and he was the one I always held, I just knew he was the pup for me. |

| All these stories sound so cute! I especially love the idea of dressing up in the pink dress to pick up lilah, it sounds like a little princess story.. And keeganriley, I loved reading that.. It sounds like your baby was meant for you, she decided she liked you too much to let you go home without her that day, lol. Maximo, I already told you before but I'll tell you again.. Max and Teddy are absolutely stunning! I can definitely tell they're brothers, they look alike! You take really good care of them, their hair looks flowy.. I'm working on that flowy look for Chloe. I couldn't decide at first about a girl or boy.. Even though I was leaning more toward a girl.. But when I saw chloe she decided for me that it'll be her.. Even though she was shy, lol. I love waking up in the morning and seeing her little face waiting for me at the bottom of the bed

| I had lost my little poodle and was heartbroken, more like devastated. My husband actually told me that I NEEDED a baby. I joined YT and read so many wonderful stories, did a little studying, because I had only had poodles. A friend of mine told me that her girl might be expecting her first litter,I thought that this would be wonderful,so I waited. While waiting I was checking out all of the forums here and discovered that sometimes a breeder will offer a pup. Well there were 3 little girls, one had the sweetest eyes and I fell in love. My friend called me and said that there would not be puppys. I just knew that there other little girls probably had homes but I sent an email anyway. I turned out that the little girl that I fell in love with was the one that was left. The breeder sent me her two paged questionnaire and I sent my 3 page questionnaire. We spoke that evening on the phone, more like talked for hours. I picked Mina up a week later. That was 3 years ago next week. The breeder and I have become friends and still talk a lot. Kenzie's story is a little the same. I fell in love with this beautiful biewer in Virginia Beach. We were taking a trip last fall in our RV from TX to Upper State NY ,drove back down through Virginia and picked Kenzie up. She is now 10months old and will be a big sister to Tilly. ChanTilly Lace will be picked up April 15. She is one of MicheleM pups and is just beautiful. She and Mina have the same birthday, just 3yrs apart. I think that our little pack is complete and certainly full. My summer will be spent playing/training pups. DH is so very attached to Kenzie and plans on building her an agility course in our backyard. She is already much bigger than Mina and we love the fact that she is sturdy. She loves me and cuddles with me ,but her heart belongs to MrMan. |

| My mom and I were checking all kinds of puppy sites (shelters, rescues, craigslist, puppyfinder, etc), we ran into tons of scams and none of the puppies spoke to either of us. Then we saw Lola, both of us fell in love but I wasn't going to call because she was 3 hours (each way) away. My mom called without me knowing and they called her again later that night and sent new pictures of the two puppies they had left. Lola was so beautiful and had this little spark in her eye, we had to have her. Her sister was beautiful too, but she didn't have the spark. The next day my mom worked a full day of work and then we drove to get her. Both puppies were very shy and sweet, but we clicked with Lola. Lola's parents were also very nice, they stood on our legs and gave us kisses. My mom spent the past 2 years insisting we weren't getting another dog and she ended up looking for a puppy harder than me and then told me Lola was the one I was getting lol. |

| I went to look at a Yorkie on Black Friday. I asked the breeder which one is the calmest, low energy one and out of 4, he said you want that one of those two, but this one is the calmest, and pointed to my Pippin. I picked her up and she just put her head on my shoulder. I could put my fingers in her mouth and touch her paws and she let me. She was almost 16 weeks and the other calm one was about 10 wks. I picked her up and she wouldn't let me touch her mouth and kept wiggling when I tried to touch her paws. I put her down and she started crying. Pipping just kept staring at me the whole time I had the other puppy in my arms. At 7 1/2 months Pippin is like an "old soul." She is so smart and seems eager to learn new things and pick them up right away. Good thing because we are learning to potty outside after a cold winter using training pads. But she got the pads down in a couple of days and if i time it right will potty outside.

| my Dudley picked us out. We went to see the pups and he was the only boy, but he was the only one that ran over to us and tried to climb out of the pen. My husband bought him for me so I wouldn't be alone when he passed away. That was so good for me. He passed away Feb. 2006 and Dudley saved my sanity and my life. He is still such a loving dog at almost 11 years old. I thank God for him every day. |

| Did any of you see the article entitled " Pick of the Litter; What Does It Mean?" In the Spring 2014, The Yorkshire Terrier Magazine. It is about breeders placing their puppies and all that that involves!

| Ferghus A friend of mine has yorkies. Three years ago I told her if she ever has puppies I want one. She only has puppies when she or someone in her family wants one. A few months ago she told me Abbie was in heat. I was so excited, then came confirmation that she was preggers. In order for me to get one she needed to have three puppies, as her brother was getting one and she intended to keep one. Unless there was a boy. My friend only wanted a girl. Before Ferghus was born I had his name picked out. I was just so sure I would get my boy. Abbie had four puppies, two boys and two girls. After boy number two was born I got a text with a pic announcing Ferghus had arrived. Two days later I was at her house and she handed me a little boy and said "here is Ferghus". Funny that I never questioned that she was handing me Ferghus, the other boy hadnt been spoken for but somehow we just knew he was my puppy. He is so sweet and if there was an entire pack of puppies to chose from he is still who I would pick. He has two speeds fast and stop. lol. I told my friend the day after the puppies were born that I was afraid my son was going to steal him, because my son has medical problems and is home all day so he would be helping to care for Ferghus. Her solution was that we should take the other boy as well. My son decided to get him, he named him WallE. When he picked him up you could just see my son melt. His plan is to turn WallE into a service dog. I did ask if he was ok with having a girly looking dog and he responded that WallE was going to be a babe magnet. lol. These are our first yorkies. My son (18) has never had a dog, and I have always had doxies or chihuahuas because I love big attitude in little packages. lol |
