| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | There was an owl attack recently in Alaska where a Yorkiepoo was killed, and I'm always surprised at the reaction many people have stories like that. They laugh. I took some pictures of an eagle near my house yesterday, and I got the same thing. I in no way put a dog on the same level as a human, but would people react the same way if it were a baby being attacked? Where do you draw the line between funny and traumatic? I have to admit that I ignorantly smiled at those stories before I fell in love with little dogs about 10 years ago. It's nature meets civilization, and the eagle is certainly doing nothing wrong. I just think there should be a little more sensitivity toward the victim or potential victims -- the animals and the families that love them.

| Senior Yorkie Talker | Oh, well, I get the breeding question or 'proposal' very often. Unfortunately, here in Argentina not many people neuter their dogs, specially male dogs and specially pure bred dogs. They can't believe mine is neutered and they often go 'Whyyyyyyy????'. I also had one lady once ask me if Bull was a 'medium sized' yorkie, whatever that means, considering he weighs 5,5 pounds I was really surprised... |

That's awful! Even before I had little dogs I would have never thought that a dog being killed by a bird was funny! I don't understand people...

A woman was like "Is she a yorkie?" Yes "mine too, but mines a teacup!" Her dog wasn't much smaller, maybe 4lbs. | |

| At 14lbs I get the "what breed is he?" "Is that a Yorkie?" And we get "is his Mohawk dyed?" Umm no sir his fur always grows blue or pink or red. Stella gets the "can she walk " because Mrs Priss will NOT walk in public around people.

| I get the "Look at the cute PUPPY" comment... They almost always seem baffled when I tell them he's an old man at 10-12 years old. LMAO Like he's too small to be that old.. |

. He's 12 inches tall and 5.5 pounds. I took him with me to get my son's tux for prom and the owner said, "Oh, he's a yorkie. But he's not a teacup is he?" At this time he weighed less than 4 pounds. I said, no he's definitely a dog, not a cup. She then proceeded to tell me that her friend had one of the very small "teacup" yorkies that are so rare. It was like she felt sorry for me for having a larger yorkie.

| I just have to post this because I got two in one day! But first, I have to give you a little background.... Guinness is a therapy dog with Pet Partners. He does a visit with seven other exceptionally well behaved therapy dogs in a hospital twice a month. The first odd thing said to me was by a hospital volunteer who asked how she can join our volunteer group. In the middle of giving her some information she interjected with.... " Oh, I didn't know I have to have my own dog ..... I thought these dogs were kept in a Pet Partners facility and you get to choose which dog you want to bring to the hospital." The second odd thing said that day was a inquiry by a visitor walking out of her friend's room to pet Guinness in the hallway. Even after telling her these were therapy dogs she asked where we were setting up and how to go about adopting my dog! No... no joke, I'm afraid she was serious.
