Odd things people have said to you

I just have to post this because I got two in one day!

But first, I have to give you a little background.... Guinness is a therapy dog with Pet Partners. He does a visit with seven other exceptionally well behaved therapy dogs in a hospital twice a month.

The first odd thing said to me was by a hospital volunteer who asked how she can join our volunteer group. In the middle of giving her some information she interjected with.... " Oh, I didn't know I have to have my own dog ..... I thought these dogs were kept in a Pet Partners facility and you get to choose which dog you want to bring to the hospital."

The second odd thing said that day was a inquiry by a visitor walking out of her friend's room to pet Guinness in the hallway. Even after telling her these were therapy dogs she asked where we were setting up and how to go about adopting my dog! No... no joke, I'm afraid she was serious.

That's hilarious! I would shutter to think of what kind of life the dogs would have at the "library" where you can check them out like books!

I had a similar situation happen on Saturday. I went to transport a YTNR foster to her new foster home. Since it was a long drive and a friend has been curious about what I do or how it works, I invited him along. On any foster drop off or pickup, I always bring Kaji along (super convenient since I only have the one pup of my own). On the way home, my friend had Kaji on his lap so he took a selfie of himself and Kaji to send his fiancé. His fiancé thought Kaji was the foster puppy!!! She was so excited and told my friend to "save" him for a friend to adopt. Hahaha!! He had to explain to his fiancé that Kaji was taken.

That's because Kaji is adorable and photogenic! And how does my husband put it?..... Oh yeah!.... And chicks dig him.

Okay, I'm checking out 2. Jilly will be due back after she has been thoroughly groomed and pampered. And Eddie is due back after he has been given his favorite treat and told 100 times what a super duper good boy he is! Is that so wrong-uh?!

I have spoken to people who were about to surrender their dogs to YTNR and more than once I was asked if the dogs were kept in kennels and how many times a day they are checked on. I said they don't stay in a kennel! They stay with us at home like one of our own. Could you imagine surrendering your dog to a rescue and then just have them put in a cage like in the pound? No way. Luckily that made them feel a little easier about a very hard decision.

I call all dogs puppy, doesn't matter how old they are.
I greet them as "hi puppy!" Sounds better than dog or doggy to me.

People have actually asked me if I "rescue" dogs and sell them for extra money on the side. Sad thing is, I am sure some people do that! Get free dogs and turn around and sell them for a few hundred.

At least that's better than people getting free dogs to use as bait.
