Yorkie Yakker | Yorkshire Terriers barking... do you actually mind it? Hi all, many people complain about their Yorkies barking too much. In my case barking of my Pippi leads to some funny situations, cause she apparently doesn't like joggers, people on bicycles and .... small kids - in this case she simply gets anxious and afraid and reacts by barking. do you really have problems with Yorkies barking too much? do you also have funny situations with your dogs barking? my post about barking (just a bit) Everything about Yorkies - Yorkshire Terriers Naturally |

| No and yes. No I don't mind a warning bark that someone's at the door, or a warning bark that something is happening outside, a little bark to get your attention that I don't mind. Yes I mind when it's constant and for no reason I mind. Thank goodness my pup is not a barker. Or maybe I inadvertently trained him not to bark.

| I don't mind a few warning barks, but I want them to stop when I tell them to. I'm proud of the progress my guys are making in this area.

| I wish Huey wouldn't bark as much as he does, but unlike people jingling change or keys in their pockets or whistling or clicking pens, I can actually ignore his barking. He is barking out the open window now, but the neighbor is making a ton of noise and I fully understand...hell, if I could bark, I would, too!

| We live with a pomeranean that barks CONSTANTLY. She "sport barks" when she thinks she's alone (barking for the fun of it), she barks if a neighbor down the street open/close their car doors, good lord almighty if she doesn't bark for a solid 5 minutes after you come back in from taking out the trash (like she forgot you just walked out 15 seconds before) Because of her, I figured we'd have issues with Billi barking. Billi's bark is adorable, but she's still learning to control herself. Thank goodness she'll stop when I tell her to, most of the time. Sometime's she stops herself after seeing Teeny the pom get in trouble.

YT 2000 Club Member | Depends on why they are barking. Max doesn't bark, Tatiana, only rarely and just when she is spooked. Teeka has started an annoying habit of barking very loud when she is going outside, especially with my DH! When she thinks he is heading outside, she starts in and doesn't stop until she is out the door! This is barking that I am trying to put a stop to. She is not as vocal with me, but I can't tolerate the barking when she is going out with him!

YT 1000 Club Member | Nope Rasta only barks when he wants attention, his bully sister takes something he considers his(which is everything), or someone's at the door/too close to me. After having a dog that hardly ever barks(bulldog) I welcome the noise |

| When Lexi was about 8 months I put an ottoman up to my bedroom window so Lexi could look out. I think that made her think she was all powerful because she could look down from the second floor window into her domain...which includes all the neighbors yards and anything beyond. She immediately went from never barking to an all out terror. I really didn't want to stop her because she enjoyed it so! Instead, I tell her to use her inside voice, and amazingly she does. I don't know how she knew what I meant but I'll let her crazy bark to let me know what's going on then I tell her to use her inside voice. Visitors think it's hilarious because she begins to bark really quietly...Lol

| Penny likes to bark for a treat. I know exactly what I am doing wrong each time I open the treat tin ... but I open it nevertheless. It is a very cute bark .... |

| Lola only barks when she wants something or when she's telling me off. I wish she'd bark when people are at the door but she just gets excited and sometimes cries. I prefer not barking to the crazy barking my poodles did though. |

| My 4 pretty are not habitual barkers, and pretty much bark for a reason. That's how they communicate, and it's ok, but must be limited. They are my alert system, and it's good that they tell me if someone is in my yard. It's not so good when they bark to tell me it's a bird in the yard, or that a palm frond fell. Meika likes to guard the ocean side, and barks at surfers, snorkelers and paddle boarders. That can get annoying, but we don't let it go on long, and she stops once I acknowledge someone is there. She's just doing her job, and I'm ok with it.

| I don't mind it that much as long as no one else can hear Tibbe barking. I wouldn't let him harass others with his barking ever. I was harassed by next door neighbor's dogs outside incessant, almost non-stop barking for years and it is an awful way to live. But I usually let him bark but stop him if he should go overboard which he usually doesn't. He's got a rich, full dog's life so he doesn't obsess that much barking endlessly at things, even if something persists. He'll stop after a bit and just watch/listen and sometimes growl or bark a bit if the situation goes on and on. He's usually more interested in what I'm up to and how he can help or involve himself in the goings on of the house but he is a very, very good watch dog. At night, he only barks at what he thinks are strange or intrusive noises he can't place as everyday and I so appreciate having him.
