YorkieTalk Newbie! | Need advise regarding parvo virus (cat flu) Hi everyone...I bought a Yorkie named Mila, last week and received her on Thursday...she already stole my heart when I saw her the first time...then on noon Friday she was not herself anymore. I took her to the vet on Saturday morning when she started having a runny tummy and vomiting...they did not test for parvo and sent her home at noon and only treated her for low blood sugar...her condition did not improve at all...I took her to another vet on Sunday morning and she confirmed within minutes that she has cat flu...she also informed me that seeing I only had her for less than 24 hours when she started getting sick, she definitely got it from the breeder's premises...what should I do as I don't want anyone to buy a sick puppy from this person, and luckily my baby is in hospital and she is still holding on and fighting back....the breeder is registered with KUSA and she has a couple of litters on the premises and I am very concerned about these doggies...Please advise on what steps I can take against this breeder |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Welcome to YT! I am not sure what steps should be taken. I just wanted to tell you that I'm so sorry that your baby is so sick. And getting sick so soon after coming home makes it worse. I'm so happy you took her to another vet. I will pray for a quick recovery. I'm sure that someone who will have advice for you will come along shortly. I do hope that you will stick around our community. Its such a great site and everyone here has a great love of this breed. Again, welcome!

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Thanks so much for the good wishes MomtoJasper, jeane and cummins, and for welcoming me to YT! Mila is worse than yesterday and I try to visit her as often as I can. I have informed the breeder that she is ill to which she had a very blunt response.... |

| The breeder should be very concerned as she could lose her entire litter(s) or sell sick pups to other unspecting people and spread this virus. There are other threads on this site about parvo, I believe in the sick and injured section. I will keep your pup in my prayers and I'm sure there will be others that will chime in.

| I'm sorry. Most breeders just don't care. I really don't know what advice to give you because any laws relating to dogs there are going to be different here. Have you searched online for any regulations?

YT 1000 Club Member | @Lady Mila I am very sorry for your loss *hugs* do you happen to know where your baby contracted the cat flu? Seeing as how you had her for only a day and she already showed signs of not being herself I would think she contracted it from the breeders home.(incubation period for the flu virus) . Have you contacted the breeder since she's been sick? Did you have a contract? The other pups in this breeders care may have been exposed to the same virus so if there is a clause in your contract that says she'll "replace" the pup I'd be a bit apprehensive right now. Breeders like this make me thank GOD for Rasta's breeder everyday. My prayers for you in your time of sorrow |

| Very sorry to hear about your loss of Mila She certainly gave it a fight. What an angel! How unfortunate that it appears to have come from the breeder and that the breeder was rude to you when you phoned her! I certainly hope that the other pups in the litter are ok. All the best of wishes coming your way... and a big hug. |
