| Wow I love to see and read about all the different kinds or cousins of yorkies. They are all so beautiful! The prices are high, but I guess since they are so rare. |

| Hey, though I have a Biewer and know what I went through to get a Good German breeder to work with me..I think charging that price for a pup is crazy! Yes they are new and rare here..but unless this dog had a show history here and in Germany where the costs to the owner have be so exorbitant I can not see charging so much..and this is a puppy. If people will just be a bit patient there will be more and prices will be more reasonable. I think this person is out to make a REALLY good buck..and they will probably find someone that will pay that price! So sad...

| Some people use the word Rare as a marketing tool. Lots of people will see the word and will pay more. Just another scam. There are quite a few folks on the forum who can help you if you need information the the Biewer. Don't be confused they have their own standard- so they are a breed apart from a yorkie. We also have some who have the parti- or piebald colored yorkies. |

| RARE....RARE..... Oh how that makes the price of things go up...but that is a bit ridicilous! Most times it is only rare because the general public is un-educated! What a sham!

| We had a long discussion about Biewers recently http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22853 The YTCA considers their off coloring a fault. Some breeders consider them a different breed. Some consider them Yorkies. We all consider them cute but not quite worthy of that kind of price tag. Rare? Well, part of that reason is Yorkie breeders that are trying to meet the standard would not breed a dog that color. A Yorkie breeder in Germany (Biewer) decided to run with the off color and create a new "breed" . I am still a little confused how you take 2 Yorkies and get another breed? Still waiting for an answer on that one. Anyone know if other breeds were "created" this way? Last edited by shelbysmom; 12-29-2005 at 09:08 AM. |

| Speaking of faults. I have talk to some Chinese Crested breeders, I happen to meet on at my handling class. CC have 3 versions. The hairless, the hairy hairless and the poweder puff. Now, neither version has a 'standard' so you can compare them to the tri color Yorkie that is AKC registered. You can show both Powder Puff and Hairless. Would you believe that a Hairless missing teeth is NOT a fault because the CC club has accepted the recessive gene that goes along with being a Hairless?..I found that rather odd..because Yorkies need all toofers ![]() IF the CC club didn't recognize the HL because of the recessive gene. The HL could be spun off of a breed of it's own in hopes of being accepted (just like Biewers). IF someone wanted to do so. If Germany's club accepted the Tri Colored Yorkie. There would be no need to create a different breed. I though'd I'd share that with you all in regards to acceptance and non-acceptance of recessive genes. Thought it was interesting. Let me see if I can explain this...This breed was developed from a yorkie though a particular recessive gene- the "pie bald gene." After Mr. Biewer spent years to perfect the coloring pattern for this breed to arrive to the coloring standard that was set for them and that we practice for this breed. Since they have a standard and you can continue to reproduce (bred) these Biewers to to that standard they are now a breed of their own. Usually the mixing of other breeds is how we introduce a new breed such as a a MI KI (sp?) This is a exception to that rule it was done through Genetics.. I am not sure about any other breeds being developed that way to be honest. I know it is this procedure is used in breeding horses and know very little about that as well...lol.

I have to add here that I read that ad of the over priced Biewers and my Biewers are WRV e.V. registered and it is not a registry that AKC reconizes. So that ad is being dishonest. Not 100% sure about the registry listed in this ad, but when we called AKC to check on the different registries that AKC does except from Germany none of registries that are used for the Biewers are excepted at this time. At least this is what we were told from AKC.
