Confused - some very rare Yorkie??
 
Here is an ad in our local newspaper:
"Yorkie, very rare. German Biewer, tri color, 2 tiny,
2.5 lbs, Fem. $7500. (425)941-2706"

First of all, I am NOT looking to get another puppy. This ad just bug me. :confused: I looked at the picture mainly becasuse I want to see what a $7,500 puppy looks like. It is a white dog with a Yorkie's face. I mean if you only see the face, the shape and coloring looks just like a Yorkie. They called it a "rare" Yorkie and I don't know what to make of it. Any idea?

Do a search on here for Biewer's & you'll see what they should look like. It is a yorkie though. I guess they are considered "rare" but not for $7500! I think the average price that I see is $2500.

We have some Biewer breeders on YT and their puppys are beautiful!

Thanks, Lucky's Mom and Livingdustmops. I followed the link above and they are so cute. I can't believe they are really Yorkies too. This is eye-opening. I was goind to do a search also but can't figure out how - still a little green here.

Here is a posting for a briewer for 7500!!!!!! It was listed 2wks ago for 8000.00!!!!!!! What in the world???

That is quite a bit for a puppy unless it was multi ch on both sides and very uncommon to have a dog of such worth advertised in a local newspaper. Hmmm, we have Rini, Sue, and Pat here that are biewer breeders & experts that may be able to cast a little light on this. I may be wrong, and apolojize if I am, but i do KNOW biewers are really expensive, but this NEWSPAPER ad seems a bit much. come'on girls...help us out here..

This breed is considered rare due to fact they are only 20 years in existence and there might be about 100 of this breed here in America at this time.

Their heritage is from a Yorkshire and were developed into this breed by a pie-bald recessive gene to develop the colorings.

Here is a couple of good links that will help you understand the breed. These are the top German Clubs that represent the Biewer Yorkshire breed as our YTCA represents the Yorkshire Terriers.

These links I have added are the translated links for your reading pleasure...lol. :) On the serious side it has some interesting and good factual reading on the breed and it's standard. It is my goal to educate those interested in learning about the Biewers as I have decided to get involved in being a breeder here in America.

Regarding the price you read in the paper in my opinion is quite a bit over priced... :eek: If people are patient and wait they can and will find them for a reasonable price. :)

This is one of my Male Biewers at his last show in Nov. We are really excited to attend the show in Lexington, Kentucky on April 8th & 9th. as well as taking some of our Biewers back to Germany in October to show in their homeland... :p

Hey that's the same ad I was referring to - on different newspaper. What are the chances? Well, I followed the link and recognize the pictures. So I compared the phone number listed. :confused: They are definitely cute but the price is sky high to me.

Thanks for the information. So, Biewers is not a Yorkie then. It is a whole other breed and it's just called "Biewers Yorkshire." That really clear it up for me. I am definitely gonna follow the link and get myself educated. Thanks again. By the way, your Biewers is so beautiful. Please keep us posted on the show.

They are only a yorkie from their heritage. Since a standard has been set for them, they are now considered a Breed of their own... So I guess you can say they are a type or breed of yorkshire (hope this makes sense) as Yorkshire remains in their registered name and published on the standard that was set for them from the founder Mr Biewer, himself. I have attached a quick reference of the standard set for this Biewer Breed.

Thank you I think Homer is a beaut... :p I will keep all his accomplishments on my website. (which needs my attention desperately...lol) He has been such a natural for the show ring and feel very blessed to have him as a addition to my breeding program.

7500 for a biewer is pretty obscene... although not as bad as some of the "super teacup mix breed" ads i've seen. a mix priced at $1500-2500 is bad enough, but i just saw one maltese/bichon mix, 8 oz, asking $8k. eeks!

i think they are so pretty and would love one but they are not yet over here in the uk, if they are i cant find them.
did you notice that the lovely biewer magnolia showed had its tail?

I also have a Biewer boy who is 14 weeks..and yes the dogs are left in their natural state...long tails and have a standard tri-color! These are the most wonderful of Breeds. So like their yorkie cousins, but so different. They are true "Rainbow dogs" with all the color changes! They are very rare here in the states and getting one is quite difficult...but that price is totally outragous to me! Thankfully we have people like Sue (Magnolia Yorkies) and many others here that are working very hard to introduce the breed..correctly! This will take time and a lot of work I am so proud of them. I am just joining the group and will try to follow the guidelines they are working so hard on.
And YES I love the long tails...when they are happy..their whole body is happy too! You ought to see them in real life...they are just breathtaking!
