| They getting rid of yorkie My niece text me and said her friend has to "get rid of her year old male Yorkie" Her words not mine. I told her I have never had a male dog and didnt know if my two females would accept him. He has not been nurtured, So I told her I didnt think so, besides I am on my way to NY this week. This lady is worried her Dobbie will kill him, she isnt charging a penny for him. Now I have been thinking of this little guy, there are many back yard breeders and puppy mills that would snatch this guy up in a min. I would hate to see that happen just because I dont know anything about male dogs. My girls were spaeded (fixed) at the age of six months so there is no fear of babies. My guestion is, if he is nurtured now will this stop him from wanting to hump the girls? Another thing is will he come in and lift his leg to mark everything in the house. He is supposely housetrained. I just dont know what to do. I can see all these awful places he can end up. Flea market, family with six little kids, (he is only 5 lbs) put in a cage for the rest of his life . Should I take him? Or let him take his chances? My neice said I have first choice, and she will keep him till I get back in a week, |

| I will try my best to help: He might hump for a little while after the he is neutered but it usually starts to go away leading to the very rare hump. Be warned though, the girls might try to hump him instead as a dominance thing! If he is house trained he shouldn't lift his leg in the house, if he does sternly tell him no and keep on him. It should stop after he is neutered. I'm just speaking from experience with my male, but other members might be able to give better information. As for if you should get him, that is only for you to decide. Maybe visit him and see how he is? I hope this helps and good luck with your decision!

| Great advice above. Get him, and worse case scenario, bring him to a Yorkie rescue. Poor boy. At least the family had the sense to be concerned that the other dog in the house might hurt him.

| From what I'm reading, I think it's better for you to take the pup. When the pup is in your hands, you can choose to either keep him or find a good home for him and take the necessary steps (neutering etc) to make sure the pup gets a good home and a good life. I have a male yorkie and he doesn't mark in the house nor hump my girl. It all depends on the way the pup was raised.

| I have two young boys ( 1 year 3 mos and 1 year 8 mos), both are neutered, neither raised their leg in the house ever. We have 2 girl pups staying with us right now and neither boy tries to hump them, although P-Nut has a blankie he tries to hump once in a while. Boy yorkies are awesome love bugs!!! |

| I have two males (one Yorkie, one German Shorthair Pointer.) Neither are neutered, neither hump anything, neither mark in the house, neither are aggressive. If I were you, I take this boy in in a heartbeat. Best of luck in whatever you decide, though. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | If i was you I would take that little one in a min. Boys are so sweet. I think everyone will adjust to the arrangement especially that he is a male and you have two females. I would say go for it. You have a whole group here for support

| My cousin just had a similar situation. A friend of a friend just had to get rid of her dog asap because she was like 2 months pregnant. The boy isn't neutered, and my cousin has 2 girl dogs. None of them are yorkies. If anything they try to hump him, like others said. He didn't mark at first, but he has been lately after a month of living there. He fits in very well and has even helped one of her girls behave better. She's very happy she took him and he's much better off with her. My grandmom has had 2 male yorkies who weren't neutered. One never marked and the other was terrible. I'd probably take him and if it doesn't work out, find a good home for him. |

| PLEASE Do What You Can I would take him. Have him checked out by your Vet, before bringing him into your home if you have the slightest worry about his health. Have him neutered and take a wait and see attitude. I would find a good family for him. Because I have 5 Yorkies of my own. We often buy Yorkies and foster them until we find a good home for them. It is perfectly fine to place him with a good Yorkie rescue if you can't afford, or don't want another dog. Like you I can't stand to see a Yorkie just passed around or given to a Greeder or dog pound !
