Lucky, lucky girlie to have you both as her new parents!!!

And Port Isaac....we've probably seen you there, and didn't even know it!!! Please wear a rose between your teeth next time you visit...

Glad she's back to her normal boisterous self These animals don't 'alf worry you when they have a 'quiet' day, don't they!!!

I was pretty lethargic myself yesterday but that was probably down to the rather muggy weather - it was SO humid and 'heavy' that I felt completely drained by the evening Could Crystal have been feeling it too - has it been very warm where you are? Forecast is looking hot hot hot for the UK this coming weekend....must remember to take the fan to work to keep me cool on Saturday

When I retired, I treated myself to full air conditioning, which we alone could do in our building, as we have a loft and then the roof, being the Penthouse. We live on the sea front literally and whilst we mostly have sea breezes, the humidity is high and in times of elevated heat really oppressive. She might be noticing it more as the atmosphere changes, going from the cool of the flat through 5 - 8 degrees outside and your right it was heavy. I lived in the States for many years and got hooked completely on A/C, amongst other things out there! When I think back I really noticed the difference when I came back. How our people work in mainly stuffy and fatiguing offices defeats me, it's also very counter productive for employers. Anyway I witter on, Crystal and I had our usual mile along the beach tonight. She came straight in, gave a huge yawn went to her little bed and crashed out, after giving mum and dad a huge tongue licking. She certainly enjoyed the lunch as well. Thank you for posting.

I never even realised you could get air-conditioning in the UK I drive hubby Neil nuts when he keeps saying, on a hot day, how he'd like a car with air-conditioning and I pipe up with ''We've got it...it's called opening a window'' He calls me some VERY rude names!!!!!

Glad Crystal is back to her normal self It's lovely being near the coast, isn't it - we are only 4 miles or so from it and on hot days I always head that way as most of the time it's a lot more bearable than heading inland

Thank you, I!d forgotten just how much positive energy they bring into a home. We've only had her two weeks, so I suppose the progress is good. Already she's 90% potty trained and hasn't chewed a thing yet. That said, we 're always with her and any little gnaws are diverted to chews or another game. It's a beautiful time with a young dog. We were warned she had become very 'domineering', so far it's all been an absolute pleasure - BUT - we are both retired, so can devote the time to her. My wife's daughter has a mother and daughter duo, who have systematically eaten all their mum's shoes and furniture, They are however left to their own devices for 10 hours a day sometimes! Also a sudden thought, she might find the beach (very soft sand) a bit fatiguing, for those little legs. I carry her a bit of the way (in the lift and till we cross the road), in a sling shoulder bag, I'll give her a break tomorrow and pop her in earlier. She's quite fond of it, as only her head and front paws protrude over the top, so it's great for 'stealth Yorkie snooping'! We even chased a crab today, until it turned round and ran sideways at us...

Oh that would have been SO funny to see on video

I found a HUGE green shore crab on Boulmer beach last summer which was almost as big as my hand That must be, to a yorkie pup, as big as a grizzly bear would be to us Poor thing was stranded in a shallow puddle as the sea was on it's way out so I picked her up ( it WAS a girl - you can tell by looking at the shape of the shell underneath) and carried her to a lovely deep, seaweed-full rockpool and released her there

I live in a state more to the north in this country. We have cool to cold weather most of the year but for the 3 months of summer we get we do have AC to get us through. I try to leave it off for as long as possible because Gracie thinks she is a tropical type of girl. When the AC goes on she finds her blanket and cuddles up in it or finds a warm lap to cuddle in. I sometimes have to put a shirt or fleece on her to make her comfortable.

Can't imagine working in an office with no AC. Most of our buildings do not have windows that open anyway. Maybe we are too dependent on electricity and AC. In most cities everything just shuts down if we have a power outage.

I imagine you little girl does get quite a workout on the beach. It's nice that you give her a ride on the way home. Their legs are so much shorter than ours so they are really moving much faster than we realize.

I sometimes think we forget how beautiful it is to fall asleep to the sound of surf. The Sea is a constantly changing landscape and the accompanying background of sky with the scenery of the clouds is fabulous. My air con was for 6 rooms, the manufacturer is Fujitsu and it cost £4k installed three years ago. How I managed without it for 9 years I don't know! In the winter it doubles as heating and we now only use gas for hot water. We have brilliant insulation and the three floors below us all elevate their heat to us. In this way we can use the heat function very selectively in the winter, as each room has it's own remote control. I'd never bother with traditional C/H again if I was custom building. The quality of life you get in these days of increasing temperatures and worse, humidity is simply stunning.

I worked for Arco, based in LA back in the early 70's. I travelled widely in my job and have easily seen more of your beautiful country than many of my American friends. I got citizenship in '78, but took promotion back to the UK in '81. I lived in Woodland Hills and Rochester NYS. My favourite states are Colorado, Michigan, Utah and all of the New England ones. I regret ever coming back, except I would never have met my late wife of twenty years and nothing could ever have replaced that. I loved the Air Con, Ice cream parlours, blueberries, grits, real coffee, etc etc. I have enduring affection for my 'adopted' country and have lot of cousins out there too, as my Great uncle went West in 1890 and had seven sons!

Back on Crystal, i just sort of feel her emotions somehow and give her little pins a break now and then. We also have a favourite bench on the sea front now, and as it draws near she jumps upon it, ears down tail wagging, then hops in the bag as I sit down and pour a coffee from the flask. By the way she loves cappuccino, (which I don't let her get at), but she's a little monkey for licking the cup out, if she can. What do you do with them!

Thanks she's 23 weeks and walking 30 mins, sometimes twice a day, although I do carry her a bit too. Today I've been unable to take her and she's been full of energy.

I've always found that a dog that has had plenty of exercise is so much easier to deal with than one with pent up energy! I'm sure both of you regret not going for a walk today!

Gracie gets at least 2 walks a day plus time out in the backyard with me while I work in the garden. They are such very busy, curious little dogs. We do whatever it takes to keep her busy.....for our own sakes as well as for her!
