I've been following this thread & I'm so happy you decided to keep Jax! I'm not great at guessing a puppy's breed, so I didn't reply to your thread sooner. I even got a Wisdom Panel DNA test done on my Morkie...when it was completely obvious that she was a Morkie :p Nevertheless, it was really interesting to read the report. My Morkie & Yorkie are 4 months apart, similar to Jax & Toby. And my younger Morkie girl definitely wears the pants in that relationship. I'm sure that jax will bring you many years of love & happiness! :heart to Congratulations! I can't wait to see photos of both of your pups as they grow up!

It's not that a puppy is a mix...it's whether or not you were deceived. It's whether or not dogs are being abused to create 'puppies for profit'...and often unhealthy ones, at that...then those parents and 'defective pups' are 'tossed like a used tissue' that is upsetting. It's whether or not you were overcharged and lied to about the dog's pedigree. It's the deception that's the problem...not the mix...or the dog.

I love all the dogs regardless of where they came from...it's the 'evil people abusers' that I 'stress' over. From what I see here, by the time YT members get the opportunity to inform, more often than not, the 'abusers' have already cashed the new YT member's check while the new YT member searches here for answers, and scribbles more checks, and signs credit card promises to pay trying to save a sweet, precious baby's life that was previously NOT a baby lovingly 'created' by a careful and concerned, loving 'breeder' but was merely 'hatched' as a 'product' of a 'business venture' created by a 'greeder'...nothing more than a 'commodity' in its creators' and seller's eyes...it was a number of a P&L statement. And, sometimes, it's whether or not the new owner treats that new baby like 'it's just a dog' rather than a loved and welcomed family member...perhaps just tosses the baby aside when life gets busy or the owner gets a new hobby. To me, these are some of the important issues.

I have had plenty of mixed breed dogs...strays, dumps, re-homes, half (or more) starved rescues, Humane Society fosters and adoptees, and 'free to a good home' puppies on their way to the pound 'if nobody takes them by this weekend' throw-away babies. I have had a rescue Yorkie-Poo infant who would have died if we hadn't found him...my little velcro heartbeat for many years, lots of Shep/Lab mixes (wonderful cross), a Rott(en)/Pitt lol mix (what a BABY that one...lol), a Dachsi-Poo (gorgeous little ditz he was...what a coat, and Dachsi colors/points), gosh, what else...doesn't matter...lol...and that completely leaves out all the cats and other pets over the years. :p They were all so beautiful, sweet, special, and loving family members.

Now, I have 2 purebred Yorkies who are 6 days apart in age. I got them 3 months apart...Brody, when he was 14 months old, and (golden) Mia, when she was 17 months old. They needed new, good, forever homes so now they are with me. :D

Your little Jax and Toby are adorable and so precious. They will give you priceless pure love, joy and happiness. It's what they do!

Your original question was asking if your pup was a true Yorkie or not. Sometimes it is hard to tel because so many people are breeding Yorkies that are not close to what a Yorkie is supposed to look like. When breeders breed stock that are not really good representatives of what the breed is supposed to be then the pups keep getting further and further from the original type.

It is not that people are snobby about puppies. It is the breeder that I personally take exception to. The pups are innocent and sweet and it is in no way their fault. When someone wants to buy a Yorkie they should get what they want and not have to deal with breeders that misrepresent the breed.

I'm glad you are keeping this little guy. I hope you are happy with him no matter what he ends up looking like. It appears he has Yorkie in him. It sounds like he has terrier personality traits for sure. Hopefully you can teach him not to be so possessive.

His hair should keep growing and you should see a difference every week in how much longer it is getting. just like your other pup. Try to comb him everyday even though he may not appear to need it right now. His fur is going to need daily grooming so he needs to get used to the comb right now while he is young and teachable.

Now you have two babies to potty train! I don't envy you that job! I hope all goes well for you and your babies.

Today jax got his first set of shots & dewormer shot, vet said he had worms.. He just pooped and there were approximately 6 worms that were long and look to be roundworms. Anyway vet did give me medicine for both my puppies called trifexis, I just gave them the pill and hopefully it eliminates them.

After the vaccinations and Trifexis, Jax will be tired and sleepy for a while. Maybe you'll have a night with no barking or howling :). Let us know how he's feeling tomorrow.

The Vet did explain to you that Trifexis is a Heart Worm pill that is given monthly and that it prevents heart worm, and other intestinal worms and takes care of flea's.

Since he was given a wormer at the Vet today, I would have held off on giving him the Trifexis, but since you gave it, please keep real close eye for signs of a possible reaction to having the two med's and Vac's at the same time. This is an awful lot for a small system to handle at once.

The vet was very helpful and did explain the 1 per month process.. He also states the worms will look like spaghetti and that we might experience seeing them in his stool. My fiance freaked out and called me over to the kitchen., it was Jax's stool haha.. He is sleeping now, thankfully I will spend another entire day with both of them tomorrow. The vet states the puppy was in his opinion a "dorkie", daschund Yorkie haha. Jax weighed in 4.10 lbs and toby 8lbs. His name is Dr. Marmesh I recommend.

They are aged 8 yrs, 5ys, 5 1/2yrs. I adopted all of them.

Danny, I have three Yorkies, 2 @ 6months and 1 @ 4 months. My 6 month old, Eva, has the cutest howl! She howls when we leave her in a room by herself. I read that dogs howl, because it carries further than barking, when calling their pack. I guess it's like a kid yelling, "hey! you forgot me!". ;)

And, "yes!", it is normal for them to play bite. One of your pups will establish themselves as pack leader, second in command to you, and sometimes the play biting can seem rough ... especially when one is larger than the other. It freaks me out sometimes because they bite each other in the face and I worry about their eyes, so if they get too rough I divert their attention to something else, or give them a time out.

One of the first words they need to learn is "no!" When playing gets too rough they need to lean to listen to you when you tell them no. Otherwise you will have an all out free for all going most of the time and someone could get hurt. Of course if he attempts to chew on your hands that is a big "no, no!" Always replace your hand with something else he likes to chew on. Ordinarily he would be starting to learn this with his litter mates but you and your other pup are his mates now.
