Best way to cure that problem....put them in bed with you! :) |
@kendra, yes that sounds like a very good idea actually. I mentioned to my fiance but she had in mind he would probably pee in bed since he's so young..Perhaps you can give me advice. |
Your puppy is very cute. I do not think he is pure though and his parents don't really look pure either. Normally finding a yorkie for a $350 is to good to be true in my opinion. But I'm sure your not gonna love the little cutie any less. You mentioned him crying at night do you have the crate where he can see you when your in bed? |

He is sleeping besides my bed inside a little doggie bed for now. |

Pure yorkie or not, just adorable! |
I'm sure he is an adorable little dog. I hope he makes a wonderful pet for you. It is not unusual for some breeders to show you dogs that are not actually the parents in order to sell the pups as purebred. You didn't pay a whole lot of money for him so it really doesn't matter that much. It just isn't nice for a breeder to do that to people. Your picture seems to show a kind of curly coat? Not sure if that will straighten out or not. You may want to get him used to being combed on a regular basis because that coat will probably really need it as he gets older. You want to get ahead of any mats that might develop. Your Shih Tzu is adorable. I've never seen an all white one before. Does she have spots on her back? |

All white Shih Tzu is cute for sure. I love the all white dogs...Maltese, Westies, Bichon, etc...but the Shih Tzu breed club doesn't mention 'all white' in their colors, even though, for conformation, all colors are acceptable, and I thought it interesting that 'all white' Shih Tzu was being made into a concerted effort. Danny1909, you might try a soft carrier for you pups and put it on your bed. They will be right with you, but your bed will still be protected from accidents. Brody and Mia both sleep with us...did from the start, but we got them when they were 14 and 17 months old. They are actually only 6 days different in age...we just got them 3 months apart. As they get older, they will adjust to your routine better. You have to think of them as infants...babies for now and treat them that way. Maturity will bring many changes. In the meantime, you have lots to love! :D |

When I first got Tibbe and until he was trusted enough not to pee in the bed, I put him in his small plastic-case airline carrier with the little bars for a door and I would stick my fingers through the bars to touch him. He'd fall asleep with his chin on my fingers and eventually, when I was certain he could hold it all night, he came out of the carrier for half a night and then fully out. I had also bought him a doggie stairs and was teaching him to use that to get off the bed so he could get down if he needed to piddle. I had closed the bedroom door so he couldn't get to the rest of the house in case he did jump down and put pee pads around and once or twice at first he did use those but in time he learned to sleep through the night without peeing. I opened the bedroom door, took up the pee pads and he was then fine. But first thing on waking, I would take him outside immediately so he could relieve himself. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk, Danny! Your new puppy is adorable! I know everyone has made it through the puppy days with whatever worked for owner and puppy, and a good night's sleep definitely works for all! ;) I purchased a small round puppy/cat bed for Eva (our first Yorkie) to sleep in at night, because she was so small. I put her in the little bed by my side at night (in our bed) and Eva slept all night. I think the little bed gave her security and being beside me let her know she wasn't alone. I wrote that she slept all night, and she did, but during the first weeks she would wake up at least once during the night with a whimper. I would take her straight away to the piddle pad and she would use it, everytime. That might not work for everyone, but it worked with Eva. When Bella came home to us, she was almost 5 months old, and by then Eva was already 5 months old. I ditched the little round bed and Eva and Bella have slept with us everynight since. IF they ever have to relieve themselves during the night, they will wake me up by licking my face. I don't know why they do that, but it works. :D |

Haha the licking in the face sounds like a perfect way to say I gotta potty. Anyway I will put hi . On our bed tonight and im sure he won't mind that at all. Today I woke up to Jax crying for attention. I then left to work but he was crying historically I don't think he likes being alone.. |
