looking at the third pic in your post # 35 I swear I see dauchsound in him, especially the way his feet look and his muzzle is fairly long. Doxies have coloring and markings close to a yorkie puppy. I have no problem with mixes, my Lola is one, but I bought her knowing full well what I was getting. $350.0 is very cheap even for a mix. But I still get so upset when breeders are lying to people. And unfortunately some of the people they sell to probably go on to breed thinking they have a pure bred and then the lie just continues. Since a couple of you were there, what did you think of the place, was it crawling with puppies, have your dogs been seen by the vet and did you have any blood work done to check basic functions like liver and kidney? |
I haventaken jax to the bet yet I will this weekend.. I didn't see many puppies at the time of purchase I was presented one other smaller male which was Jax's brother. I will tape his ears ASAP where can I find the supplies and how long should the process go for? I also thought he looks a little daschund haha. His bark is very loud and he howhowls attention. Does anyone think he will turn out to look like "his parents" which I posted #44 |
Your puppy looks very sweet. There is no way of knowing for sure if he is pure bred unless you checked his dna against his parents dna. I can see the resemblance to his mother. My feelings are that he probably is purebred. I can tell you from experience that you can breed two beautiful champion bloodline yorkies and come up with pups that don't really look anything like their parents. Genetics can sometimes be very unpredictable. Shaving his ears will help to get them up or you can tape them. Sometimes the ears never come up. When the pups are teething the ears will go up and down. I know you will love your boy regardless of his physical appearance. |
Danny I don't think he will look like the pups pictured in your photos, did you see the parents or just get the pics. Even if you saw those two dogs in person it does not mean they were the parents. I really doubt that those two pups were both used to breed your dog, maybe one, but I don't think both. You have been here only a short time but you will soon find out that there are a lot of very deceitful people breeding dogs like yorkies, I have seen so many new members like yourself be lied to by breeders that even can produce some AKC papers if asked. A purebred yorkie from a decent backyard breeder sells for around $800.00 A purebred pet quality yorkie from a show breeder averages around $1,500.00, Show quality dogs are pretty much $2,000.00 and up. Of course these are just averages and prices vary by where you live. But it gives you an idea of the pricing, which you may or may not already know. I also think his ears are to large to ever stand up. Take a picture of someone holding one of the ears up, it would give us a better idea what we are talking about. When he is happy does his ears ever stand up, often that will happen if they are capable of eventually standing up. Have you goggled yorkie puppy images, if not do that and try to go on web sites of breeders that show, this will give you and idea of what a yorkie puppy should like. I have bought several yorkies from show breeders in the past and I have to say the majority looked very similar to each other. it is only in the last 4 or 5 years that I keep seeing yorkie puppies that to me look nothing like the puppies I saw from years of talking with breeders and attending shows. I have a mix which I love, but I think that there have been to many people breeding mixes calling them purebreds and some of the people that are buying them are breeding them possibly thinking they are purebreds or just not caring. The internet has made it very easy for people to sell outside of their own community so I think this has caused the quality and honesty to go way down. Sorry for my long post, I just feel bad when good people like yourself get their hopes up and are excited that they have a yorkie puppy only to come on this board and be told by so many that is not the case. I am glad that in spite of what your puppy may be a mix of that you seem to love him already, because he is a cutie. |

What kind of food are you feeding him? A good quality puppy food is important at this age. Also you can buy some Knot Unflavored Gelatin and add about 1/4 teaspoon to his food. A vet told my friend about that. |
[QUOTE=bjh;4197445]I think he will end up looking a lot like the one on the right in post #44, especially if his ears come on up. Was the one on the right the mother? Picture reminds me some of what a silky looks like in the face. They have the longer muzzle but a lot of yorkies that same look. QUOTE] You wrote exactly what I was thinking! ;) |

I just got off the phone with the breeder and asked if by any chance the pup could be mixed with a poodle or daschund.. Of course they said otherwise. Anyway we both came to an agreement, im taking Jax back to him today because I may have been misled or lied to. I will be more careful when looking for a Yorkie pup. I have only had Jax for 2 days, I will post pictures at the point of sale to get your professional opinions before making another purchase. You all have been great and very very helpful. Again, your replies meant a lot to me. Thank you all! |
I am sorry to hear that it did not work out for you, but a puppy is long term commitment so I don't blame you. At least the breeder is willing to take him back. Take your time, perhaps put a way some money because you will have to spend a more, to get a quality purebred. In the meantime you can also keep your eyes open for a possible rescue that might be a good match. |
