| It sounds like this little lady needs a loving home and you sound like you can give it to her. I hope it works out for both of you. |

| IMO, that is much too high for a rehome. I also think that at that age, she shouldn't be selling under a spay/neuter contract. It's not as if it's a puppy and too young for the surgery --- it's 3 years old. If the wants the dog to be spayed, she shouldn't leave it up to chance and have it done before selling the dog. I thought I had read that a retired breeding female is usually sold for about the amount of spay and any other vet care. My Chuy was a one-year old rehome. I paid $250, and he was neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and paper trained like a sharp-shooter. I think your breeder is asking for WAY too much.

| She looks very cute but her coat appears very pale. Is this a usual color for a pure Yorkie? Not that it matters if you like her. She is not registered from what you say, is she an 'approved' breeder? That seems a high price for an adult girl without papers. Then you have to pay for the spay too. Also will you have vet tests etc proving she is healthy before you pick her up? If it were me I would not pay that price for a dog knowing so little about her. Why not stick with the lower price that you feel is right and then you should have a cute dog that you love? If not, then there will be another baby out there for you. Sorry about all the queries/comments, but after being on YT for some time I see many traps for the unwary when it comes to adopting a new baby. Happy you came on YT, I know I am always learning here. Good luck, I hope all turns out well for you. |

I agree with the above statements. Way too high and if she want to sell her as a spayed only sale, than she should have it done before she rehomes her. Plus, yes she should have a health check done or ask to see her vet records. The breeder should have them on hand or can get them from her family vet. You could ask her permission to contact her vet to discuss her history too. If you have your heart set on getting this girl, I would not just take the breeders word that she is healthy. Get Proof that she has been vacinated and is up to date and that there are no health issues or concerns. I would also ask for a discount for the spayed cost so that you can honor it without being out tons of additional moneys to have it done. Do some research on the cost of it before you negotiate a price. If it were me, I would not be willing to pay more than $250/un spayed $350/spayed for a dog that they claim to be pure breed but unregistered Yorkie

| I agree with the others mainly because she is unregistered. She is adorable though.

| I was just thinking ... if you have your heart set on a Yorkie, and you would rather have one at least a year or two old, and registration papers aren't a factor, what about giving thought to adoption? There are Yorkie Rescues all over and they have some adorable little furbabies available to loving homes. They would be up to date on vaccinations, would be spayed or neutered and the adoption fee would be more in line with what you were prepared to offer. Whatever you decide to do, good luck, I hope you find the perfect match!

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | I think the price depends on how much you can and want to pay for her. If it were me and felt that she was healthy and from a good breeder I would offer her no more than 400.00. I would tell her that since i had to have her spayed as well 400 is as much as I could afford. I would also tell her I would give her a loving home for the rest of her life. If she really has the dogs best interest she will rehome her for a fair amount. I agree the dog your meant to have will come to you. Good luck and please keep us posted.

| That poor little girl!! I can just bet she has never had a lot of love because if the owner loved her and cared for her like we do with our own fur babies, they would not be selling her. I can tell by her terrible hair cut that she's never been properly groomed. She is all Yorkie and a very pretty girl, but try and get her for four hundred, because she needs to be spayed and I'll be she will need a dental as well. Is it possible you can go to the breeders house just to see if she may be either a back yard breeder or a broker. Be careful.

| I think what she is asking is far too high for an unspayed 3 year old, who looks like does not fit the yorkie standard in many ways. Her coat is so light, even lighter than Uni's and Uni is asked all the time if she is mixed with a maltese bc her butt is almost white. It also makes me think why this woman would breed a yorkie that is not to the standard. For money? Also why she is asking such a high amount for her? Again, to recoup her money? Don't get me wrong, the pup is adorable, but for that price, no way. I would also think if she cared for the well being of the dog, she would have it spayed first and have that included in the price of the fee. OR, refund the amount of the spay after it's done. For this age, without papers, I would estimate around $300. ETA: just looked at the pic again. I dunno, not sure if she is full yorkie or not. The skull shape looks too long.

| Re her light color, females can get progressively lighter with each litter. Since she's been bred, that may be part of the reason for her light color.

| If this girl is healthy, that is worth the price....she is not an OLD dog....she is only 3 and has a lot of good years left with you....IF SHE IS HEALTHY! I would pay $600.00 for a 3 year old healthy, unregistered dog.....I think sometimes that term "rehome" has a negative connotation, kind of like "teacup"...it automatically sets up expectations of what the asking price should be. I could care less about the "rehome" term...if I had a female that I had to retire at three years old, and she is dual/triple registered with AKC and CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) and likely UKC, and she is healthy, potty trained,.... I would charge $1200.00-1600.00 for her. From me, you would be getting a young, wonderful, healthy, well socialized, registered, microchipped, current on all shots, female that you will have for 10-14 years! This little lady you are looking at....she is young, if she is healthy, she is not registered which on one hand means nothing to you because you are not breeding her, but on the other hand, is she purebred??....$600.00 is a fair price for a healthy lady... WHY is this woman wanting to dump her? I seldom let my breeders go....makes me feel like a pimp....so my ladies worked for me, and they stay here with me....if I know someone REALLY well and I am certain that lady will be getting at least as much as I can offer her here with me, I have been known to let a couple go....but it is NOT a decision I make on the spot when someone just happens to mention they would take an adult...."OH I have one right here...!" WHY is she ready to dump a 3 year old momma...does she know this dog has a problem? I probably did absolutely NOTHING to answer your question....just some things to think about.... | Yes I have heard that. Even just going into heat, which is what happened to Uni. Didn't get her spayed until she was 3 yrs old. But this one, her face/skull shape does not look full yorkie to me. Regardless of color, the breeder was breeding this yorkie and does not look like a good representation to me. Why?

| She's selling an unregistered pup/adult dog for 950? This to me seems like a BYB?? Only out for money not to better the breed. I'd do 2 things 1 not pay 800 or 950 for an adult dog that has had 2 litters. Basically to me this BYB is done with her b*tch so she's moved on to the next b*tch in her breeding program. There are so many red flags in your story from the breeder I'd seriously get my deposit back and run the other way. She is a nice looking adult dog. But your a college/university student already talking about 800-950 isnt cheap its not especially for a Adult used unregistered breeder. Please think that she's most likely unregistered because she did not have the rights to breed her in the first place from where she purchased this dog from or she's unregistered because she's not a full blooded yorkie? JMO. Welcome to YT this is a great group of people here with wonderful opinions and suggestions to help all. |

| I agreed with everyone on this; definitely being overcharged!! The first thing that pops in my head is that this person just wants the money. If you are really set on this girl, I would seriously let the "breeder" know, you're willing to take her but not for that price and be prepared to list your reasoning. I think a thorough and knowledgeable reason would definitely show her that you know what you're dealing with and that you also aren't going to be robbed. I'd attempt to set up a lower price & have her spay her first; and if not, lower the price again.
