I completely agree that the reputable breeders do not use the word teacup. To me it's a bad word. The new baby I'm getting is going to be (maybe) rather small, but she's not a teacup, she is simply a yorkie.

Or my Lilly who is half yorkie and half wire haired terrier and is 10 pounds now at 8 months old. A total doll and she looks like a yorkie; however, I know she's a mix. She's a monster compared to a full blood yorkie though LOL. And yes, she can and does love to go everywhere with me, even if some things still freak her out a little. lol

Again, understanding where you are coming from, you will never be able to comfortably use that word here. That's just the way it goes. Yes to you and many others it doesn't mean puppy mills and such but like another member said, if you google the term nothing good comes out of it so why call your dog that and lead others to believe that the majority of teacups are healthy when it is actually the complete opposite? Why can't your dog just be a yorkie? What is your fascination with the term "teacup"?

I'm not trying to attack you, ask anyone...I'm always sticking up for newbies who are ignorant to the breed and terms but I feel that you have been well educated now on the term so now i'm just really curious as to why you are so fascinated with using the term.

Exactly and to be honest I don't think they're hard to find...especially with resources like YTCA and YT.

No one has attacked you. You came here to join in some kind of vendetta you and the OP have? You have your opinion. If you want to use the term "teacup" no one here is going to stop you. If you can read this thread and not understand what people have said about the term then there is really no sense in discussing it further. It appears you only want to bait people. We don't care what you call your dog. We just want to warn people not to buy dogs from people who breed irresponsibly.

guys i need help! my puppy shes 14 weeks old...i found a flea on her! I have no clue where she got it from ive had her for three weeks now and just the past couple of days ive noticed scratching! anyway i gave her revolution yesterday which was about 15 hours ago and i still see the flea! i guess it has to bite before it actually dies now i called my vet again and she said they have capstar which is a pill that should kill an external thing on the body...the problem is shes only 1.5 pounds...she just had two vacines on monday...yesterday the revolution...should i give her capstar today?

I have a 6 month old Yorkie who is currently 7 lb. When he was 3 months old, he was 3.6 lb. Our vet told us he would be about 10 lb. I also read somewhere that puppies grow 75% of their body weight during their first six months. I hope this helps

No matter how much I paid for a puppy, the puppy's health, not it's size, would be the most important thing to me.
