All those vets that examined Tibbe from age 9 mos. until he was re-examined this year at that scintigraphy test had all said he didn't have it his first 5 1/2 years of life. And now he does and he's had no injury, never limped or favored either leg in any way. But I knew he was from a not good situation when I got him and knew what I was likely getting into. But he was so damaged psychologically and behaviorally, I figured he'd be euthanized if someone else wound up with him so I took him.

I hope her LP are good...the other vet just said it was grade 1 she also said they could get tighter as she gets older

Mixes should be free or with a small adoption fee...........she will never build a reputation with people who are educated and know what a reputable breeder is. Its so sad you would pay that much for a mix pup when you can get a mixed breed at the shelters who will probably end up being put down because of breeders like her who just keep breeding more mixes. Makes me sick to my stomach.

Yes but there are other VERY serious illness that can be passed through genetics that wont show up for a few years its not just LP.

Your little baby is beautiful. Nobody here has a problem with your precious girl; it's just breeders who are breeding these hybrid designer dogs to capitalize on the popularity of them without paying careful attention to the health and well being of these precious babies. I wanted a Yorkie because I love their temperament. I absolutely love everything about them. I got my little girl from a hobby show breeder who is a dog trainer. She puts her heart and soul into her dogs, and she does all of the important health tests. I knew that a Yorkie from her would look like the breed standard and also have a great Yorkie temperament. I knew she would also be very athletic, because that's what lines she tries to breed. I think the mixes are beautiful, too, but the problem is that you don't know what the dog is going to grow up looking like. My sister was given a Yorkiepoo after people bought the dog and decided a few days later they didn't want it. Greta is a sweetheart, but she looks nothing like a Yorkie and somewhat like a poodle. She's a great jdog, but who knows what genetic nightmares could turn up because they probably weren't genetically screened?

I'd suggest you get insurance for your pup so that, if anything comes up that your breeder refuses to cover, you won't have to worry about veterinary care. The LP might not be covered because it's now considered preexisting. It's likely it will go away if you properly exercise her and build up her muscles. Swimming is great for dogs with LP. Be careful on slippery floors, and don't let her jump from the furniture. I have a set of stairs by my bed.

Definitely worth the investment. I wouldn't ignore the concern of the one vet -- even if you didn't like her. You should remind your vet to check the knees at your annual visits. You may also want to do some research into the breeds related to your pup.

Nobody is talking about the dogs of unscrupulous breeders lack of cuteness or sweetness or totally lovable qualities - just the huge amount of money these breeders are making using hype and glitzy sales techniques to talk a good game of all the wonders they have "created" and sell mix-breed puppies from untested breeding pairs for a lot of money that the dog really isn't worth compared to other exact mixes available everywhere. And then, should the dog develop severe symptoms from an inherited medical problem, say symptoms of liver shunt at age 3 years, that "wonderful breeder" rarely answers email, the phone or says anything except that there is no proof that the dog's problem was actually caused by the breeder and they have no liability in any way. It's been going on for years but the internet has just made the problem far worse by their idyllic websites tricked out in ridiculously cute pictures often Photoshopped, fairytale graphics and empty words puffing up usually factually false claims with absolutely no actual proof at all.

Still didn't answer my question. If your breeder is so good, what will she do when/if your puppy gets diagnosed with a congential defect?
