Every puppy Abba Daddy fathers I feel like I am their GrandYorkiema. I send, emails, photos and birthday cards. I take phone calls day or night and answer any questions I can . I love it when I get pictures and updates. My friends Kathy and Marilyn may own the Mamas but it takes two to make puppies ! And they love having a midwife helper and trainer at their beck and call. Breeders that care are there when you need them.

| Copy & pasted from her website... We are a Christian-based business blessed with the graciousness of God, who loves all of us. How she can claim to be Christian when she abuses these little creatures? Is there no way to shut these places down?!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Have there always been so many bybs, puppy mills and brokers? Or is this just really hitting in the last few years? It just seems so rampant now. It could be that I'm becoming more educated and I just didn't know what to look for before coming here. I don't know. But, its awful and it makes me literally cry when I picture the sweet babies in cages and filth. Then I get angry and don't know what to do. But, I feel like I'm just as guilty as they are if I don't do anything. I remember when our malls in Memphis used to have pet stores that sold dogs and other small animals. They've been closed for years. So how do you go about finding these people?

There still are malls with pet stores that sell puppies and most of them have an AKC litter registration slips. The majority of puppy mills and BYB's in this country are members in good standing with AKC. AKC has nothing to do with the quality of a pet. It is merely a piece of paper that is only as good as the breeder that possesses it.

I always thought that AKC even guaranteed the health because when we adopted our black lab as a kid she was for 2 years, but that was just the breeder. When I went puppy hunting the last 2 months I realized it meant nothing more than more money :-( It's a shame puppies cost $1000 upwards with that paper attached with no guarantee. More people should rescue and just go to their local shelters. I found Toby that way and he's purebred, a little older so I could judge his health and temperament plus he was housebroken which was huge for me. A lot of times they won't place their purebreds online so it's a joy to find out :-)

When you want a specific breed for a specific reason it is best to find a real profession breeder and bypass the pet stores, puppy mills and backyard breeders. Why support people who basically ruin truly beautiful breeds? Put them out of business! I gladly pay a truly good, experienced breeder $1200 to $1500 for a pet quality puppy. If the breeder has spent years creating a healthy, genetically sound line of purebreds that have great personalities and have been properly socialized then it is money well spent. Giving any money to the others is a waste and supports the degeneration of the breed. Rescue and adoption are wonderful ways of getting a new family member and I highly recommend it to people who are open to doing so.

| [QUOTE=Llutz;4259967]Copy & pasted from her website... We are a Christian-based business blessed with the graciousness of God, who loves all of us. How she can claim to be Christian when she abuses these little creatures? Is there no way to shut these places down?! [FONT=Tahoma] When I first designed my website, I wanted to put a very special Bible verse on my site, because it had come to me in a dream 30+ years ago....little did I know what it was 30+ years ago, and then one day, 2004, when I saw a gorgeous painting in an art book (which happens to be the avitar on a YT member here!...the little girl pushing the antique carriage with the Yorkies in it) and decided I needed that painting in my office.....the phrase under the painting in the book, was something like "For the love of Yorkies....". I thought that was perfect! So, I ordered the painting! When I got that painting, which was destined to hang in the office of my Yorkie nursery, the phrase under the painting was NOT what it had been in the book I ordered it from....the phrase was Jeremiah 29:11...."I know the plans I have for you....Plans to give you Hope and a Future".....which was the phrase from that dream, written on a piece of paper, that had blown across a field and landed at my feet, 30+ years ago! I insisted that be put on my website and my mentor who does my website, fussed and fussed because she told me it was sooo common for people to wrap themselves up in the Bible, all over their site, professing to be Christians...and they are nothing but con artists and scammers....she did not want to have anything on my site that would portray me as a possible scam artist. I told her the story behind this verse in my life and she admitted, it had to go on the site!! Way toooooo much of a coincidence she thought! So, unfortunately, you have to be very careful of people quoting Bible scripture and professing to be Christians.....they do that in all kinds of businesses, thinking it gives them an appearance of honesty and integrity and ethics.....unfortunately, it does to many, many people....dont fall victim to that.....dont think just because they SAY they are Christians, that they are..... |
