| ![]() I was about to ask for an update, but I see poor peanut didn't make it. That just breaks my heart. Puppywub, it sounded like you were doing everything you could do and even anticipated things that experienced yorkie owners were telling you to try. As hard as it was to lose this little one you were already attached to, be at peace knowing that he felt your love and care the night you had him with you. As a tech that cares for puppies regularly, I hope you stick around. This forum is full of usefull information and knowledgeable (if strong opinioned ![]() My local Petsmart has dogs and puppies from local shelters only that they have up for adoption. I think that is a great alternative to "pet stores".

| ![]() I want to thank everyone again for the advice and kind thoughts. This has been a very stressful few days and in saying no, i would also like to apologize if I in any way came across as grumpy. This is the only puppy I have lost and it's hitting rather hard right now. I went back and read the posts again and I saw a few that I swear I didn't see before so I would like to take the time to answer some of the questions I saw. The nape of the store is Tails of love. We are a new business and have only been around for a few months. We're hoping to have a website up soon for people to view what puppies we have available. Someone had mentioned that 1 person is not enough to care for our puppies. We have 2 in the kennel, myself and another woman. In addition to that we also have volunteers who come in to help us with the day to day tasks. Without our volunteers we would be lost. <3 Hopefully in the future we can afford to hire more paid staff, but until then we do what we can with what we have. It's not a glamorous job thats for sure. Also someone had asked if the puppies stay there at night. While they do stay there overnight without staff, I leave at 10pm and our opening kennel woman comes in at 7. If for any reason we feel as though it would not be in the best interest of a puppy we are encouraged to take them home with us. another question I missed was in regard to breeding and if we require the puppies to be spayed/neutered. We do not however in partnership with the vet we use, the new parents are given a 14 day viral warranty and are required in the contract to see our vet within 4 business days. We cover 1/2 the cost of that visit and any viral treatments in that 14 day period. Also offered is 60% off any spay or neuter. they have the option to purchase a certificate through us to be used before the puppy is one year of age, or they can make an appt with our vet on their own. All parents are required to purchase nutristat as well and are sent home with a hypoglycaemia care sheet as well. if there are any questions I have missed please let me know. Again, thank you to all who replied. And to those who questioned the authenticity of my post, I can understand why you would be concerned and I realize you are trying to look out for the well being of the breed. I came to this specific forum because I was hoping to get help from folks who are familiar with yorkies. I meant no disrespect. |

| ![]() I am sorry you have such a stressful day it is always hard losing these little ones. One think I might suggest if you want to be considered a reputable rescue is that you have the puppies fixed before releasing them to new homes as they may end up back in a puppy mill situation otherwise. If you don't have the funds for this yet then it could be included in the adoption fee to cover the expense. God bless. Hope tomorrow is better for you.,

| ![]() Im sorry about Peanut. If some of the posts came accross the wrong way you need to know it is because we have never heard of a pet store or rescue operating this way before so it sounds unreal

| ![]() I to am sorry for your loss and do think the person dropping the puppy off knew something was not right and did not have the funds to take care of the problem. I commend you for what you are trying to do, but I think you might have an easier go of it if you considered yourself a rescue/shelter that has a retail side to support it's rescue efforts. Calling yourself a pet store with a kennel, leaves a lot up to interpretation and most of it not flattering. You and your boss would do better if you took the words pet store and kennel out of the equation. If given the option I would prefer to shop for pet supplies at a shelter that ran a store, so the concept is great, if that is indeed what you are doing then shout that out loud to anyone that will listen. LOL my sales and marketing brain is always on overdrive. Good luck with the venture.

| ![]() I agree with DBlain...lots of thought must be given in such an undertaking. I know what it takes to start a rescue...not simple by any means and certainly NOT cheap. Marketing and how you present to the public is also very important. YOu cannot do this alone..you need the support of the public. Good luck and please keep us posted on your venture to help the pups in need.
