I to am sorry for your loss and do think the person dropping the puppy off knew something was not right and did not have the funds to take care of the problem.

I commend you for what you are trying to do, but I think you might have an easier go of it if you considered yourself a rescue/shelter that has a retail side to support it's rescue efforts. Calling yourself a pet store with a kennel, leaves a lot up to interpretation and most of it not flattering. You and your boss would do better if you took the words pet store and kennel out of the equation. If given the option I would prefer to shop for pet supplies at a shelter that ran a store, so the concept is great, if that is indeed what you are doing then shout that out loud to anyone that will listen. LOL my sales and marketing brain is always on overdrive. Good luck with the venture.
