Not sure why you would have even typed it...thought it....and yes I find it offensive, sorry but I do...."My breeders lie" would be more suitable...strange to me that you even considered their heritage in titling your post...anyways...apology accepted please ask admin to change it... also, glad your pup is doing well, you really should consider getting to the vet sooner or spend some quantative time reading here. You need to know what Nutracal is and a few other things about a pup that has been removed from its mom way too young. Please feel free to ask any questions but please read...and read some more!!!

I suspect too much abbreviation is the culprit making it appear as a stereotype for an entire, fabulous IMHO nationality. I have good, close, very dear German friends. I lived in Germany (FRG) for 3 years and LOVED IT...and Copperas Cove before that... ...I still communicate with some who live there by email...others came here or moved to Australia or other places. I have met many German people here as well who I did not meet in country. Lying is NOT a trait I would think of when thinking of anyone I know who is German or whom I met in Germany. The Germans I met and know were/are some of the kindest, nicest, sweetest, smartest, and most fun people. I was amazed by the talent. German engineering is amazing. And the model trains, and crystal...OMG...the crystal! I got my crystal in the Black Forest and it is beautiful. Also, the cars...wonderful...loved my SL450. My motorcycle was engineered for the autobahn...called the "Pan European" there. Oh, and the castles, and volksmarches, food, wine, beer...the wursts are he best...I miss the white schnitzel so much...yes...I had so much fun and still miss it terribly. Total strangers at Bad Durkheim invited us to join their group in the Wine Fest tent and we had SUCH FUN!!! I sincerely believe the OP means only that specific 'breeder' and only because OP has caught this particular German 'breeder' in a lie and is now 'suffering' dealing with the consequences of bringing home a 'too young' pup for which she may have been unprepared, since she trusted the 'breeder' maybe a bit too much in this case. {{{Hugs}}}

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi - just wanted to let you know I changed your thread title a bit. I don't think you meant any offense, and I think we all understand that. But, we wouldn't allow other threads have titles that made statements about nationality, color, gender, sexual orientation etcetera - so I hope you understand why we had to change it.

You are right in one being careful about generalizations Linda, just me personally, I read line by line and take it in the context in which it was written.

I'm not offended and didn't noticed until I read all the comments. Whose not offended really isn't the issue though.

| All this really scares me! We were originally scheduled to pick up Princess Sophie on Feb. 8th and they tell us she will be 9 weeks of age. She did say we could leave her longer if we wanted so I talked with my DH about not picking her up till 12 weeks (Mar. 1st). DH doesn't think we need to wait that long but I think I can win him over. What I'm afraid of is what if our breeder does the same thing to us (lie about how old she is)? Can anyone offer me some comfort here?? I know about Nutri-Cal and are prepared to use it. Is there anything else I can do ahead of time?

| Judy, I have never acquired a pet from a breeder despite having no shortage of fur buddies throughout my life, but what an honor it must be to deal with someone as honest, open and up front as you. I just love it and feel privileged just to read the wisdom you write here. If only all breeders (people?) were worthy of trust the way you are. {{{Hugs}}}

I hesitated to...and did not...say anything at the time but no reason for me to do so, since there are so many here so much more qualified to comment on THAT behavior than me. ![]() ![]() Your description is the first introduction for me as to how that occurs...since I never had a reason to be involved nor thought to inquire of my friends...lol, and I still feel that your method is completely honorable, and am thrilled to hear that it is typical of all ethical breeders. I shall keep that in mind should I ever have an opportunity to acquire a breeder placed puppy. Thank you!

| I have read in other threads here on YT that sometimes Yorkies may develop at a slower rate than other breeds. Meaning sometimes their teeth do not all come in as soon, etc. Your puppy is facing some challenges that other pups at that age may not be. Maybe offering softer foods and foods that smell good to him, such as others have suggested, will help. At this age you really cannot spoil them. What goes into the body now is helping to develop strong, healthy, bones and organs. Hypoglycemia is very important to watch for but you also need to consider the puppy's long term health. He is a baby and needs to be treated as such. I hope you can find a good combination of foods that will help him to grow into a healthy little dog. It is pretty common for some breeders to lie about the age of puppies in the states as well. Many people want their dogs to be really small so the breeders feel they can fool a buyer into thinking they are buying a tiny by selling it earlier. Of course there are several other reasons they want to be rid of the puppies sooner but that tops the list. Your little guy is going to need some added care but hopefully he will be fine once you get him trough this. |
