Venting...Breeder lied about puppy's age I told u all that the breeder wanted me to pick up Angelo at 10 weeks instead of 12 like I wanted. They said they were going out of town. I got him last week so he should be 11 weeks now but he isn't. I got one of my friends to translate the papers he gave me and GET THIS: I read it wrong. Angelo was born November 13th...HE'S ONLY 9 WEEKS!!! At the time that they said he was 10 weeks, he was only 7 weeks. I am highly upset...smh. |
OMG That's Awful!! How is he doing?!?! |
Just make sure he eats regularly, 4-5 times daily and treats inbetween. Young pups are prone to hypoglycemia till they are 12 weeks old. |
He doesn't really want to eat much and will only drink if I hold the bowl to his mouth. He plays ok by he is a little spoiled...it's hard on me cuz I can't get him to eat even twice a day. I know that that's a symptom of hypoglycemia so I'm going to take him to the vet nxt Friday . |
He will eat treats tho and ppl food sometimes |
Does he eat canned food, or moistened, softened kibble? Goat's milk and cottage cheese are good too, you can add them to his food to entice him to eat. Only feed plain unseasoned chicken, you can blend it up in a blender to make a liquid or a paste. People food can be too rich for baby dogs. |
I had posted in your other thread about giving boiled chicken....you can also get some Royal Canin Puppy Starter Mousse....and make it looser with a little warm goats milk....then let him lick it off your finger and out of a shallow saucer.... |
Get some nutra-cal - that will help with the calories. You can puree the puppy chow and add a little bit of condensed milk (it is sweet) to entice him to eat also. |
I wonder since he is a younger than you were told whether he was actually eating kibble when he left the breeders place...I would try everything these experienced yorkie owners suggest ....I have had a puppy with hypoglycemia its very scary...good luck |
Poor itty bitty thing. I won't ask why the breeder couldn't let him stay with the mommie as I probably know so I'm so sorry that this happened to you. We have a few of these type breeders on our side of the globe, too, so they are all over. I don't remember a lot about puppy-raising specifically as to food, etc., but our puppy guides here in the YorkieTalk Library are so helpful. Here is a link so you can read up on just about every subject. I particularly like the Puppy Care Guide for the basics. It is the 5th thread from the top. In addition to the current advice you'll get, there's all of the information to fall back on or use in the middle of the night when you need an answer to some basic question and no one is on YT right then. I hope you can get him to eat canned or anything else TODAY:) DO everything you can. Because if he isnt eating more than once a day, it would surely not be a good idea to wait till Friday. Please keep updating. Hope you can get him to eat well |
Germans lie? Not to be mean but you say because they are German they lie? Well I guess I am a liar too then!!!!!! I am German and an honest person.....Thank you for being stereotyping my heritage.... |
My yorkies were born November 5 and I got mine when he was 8 weeks old and the other one 2 weeks ago. They're from the same litter. They're both healthy and seem to be doing well, except my yorkie is a bit clingy and is a picky eater. I take them to the vert twice every week for check up. Hehe. So far so good. :D I'm a first time puppy owner too so I've been lurking the forums for quite a while now. |
