Is there anything else I can do ahead of time?
Is the puppy registered? When we have a litter, we register the litter and we get registration papers for each puppy in that litter. When I sell my babies, I sell on spay/neuter contrtact...as we are sitting at my dining room table, going over all the finanlities, I show the new owners the registration papers of dam, sire, as well as the blank paper they will get so they can register their baby when they provide me the vets letter saying the baby has been spayed/neutered. I write, in front of the owner, their name at the very top of the registration application paper they will be sent. I am saying all that because at the top of that page, is the dam's name, sires name, LITTER REGISTRATION NUMBER and the DATE THAT LITTER WAS BORN. You can look at that paper and get that information.....now, that is not to say they may not be lying about when the litter was born, but they are lying all the way back to the AKC, not just to you.....and there is nothing you can do about that.
