I am enjoying the ride so far, but not enjoying being up at 4:30am! lol. I am going to take him to the vet either Thurs or Fri to make sure all is well. The wet weiner thing makes sense..it probably just needs to be dried, but it is seeming like each time I pick him up he is leaking a little. When I took him out of the pen this morning and put him on the rug there was a trail of urine. Poor little thing. Hoping it's just excitement! He is nothing like my chihuahua was when she was 12 weeks, this is a new thing for me. and for him Like someone above said, he was in a cage before we got him so I'm sure he's loving being able to run around, he sure is a handfull! I will post pics this afternoon. Thank you all for the help.

I will have the vet look in to it. He's not acting as silly this morning. He's still exploring and checking things out but he seems to be more interested in climbing on me. So I'll lay on the floor with him just loving on him and making him feel secure in his new environment. So the breeder sent him home with some Eukanoba puppy food. My chihuahua eats ZiwiPeak and raw, but while Domo is a puppy I will have him on kibble. I plan to ween him on to wellness puppy. Just running that by, I am clueless on yorkies so I want to make sure I'm doing it all right. I'm anxious to get to the vet. I want to make sure he's perfectly healthy. He's JKC which is nice, but JKC or not, I want him to be healthy and loved. I read through the puppy tabs on the site. So I need to get a bristle brush and comb? Can someone post a pic of what they use so I have an idea, please. My chihuahua, Miya, and Domo are doing great! They are both wanting to play with each other so I'm very excited about that. Housebreaking question-I will train him to use pads 100%, but also will encourage him to go outside when we go on walks. This is what I do with my chihuahua, however, this is my first time crate training. We have a large octagon playpen which is his "crate". Pee pads are in there so he can relieve himself as needed. So my question is, eventually I want him to use the same pee pad as my chihuahua, which is in the kitchen. When he has an accident, should I be encouraging him to use the pad in his playpen or in the kitchen? I don't want to give him too many options as I made that mistake when my chihuahua was a puppy.

I have read about ZiwiPeak and it sounds like a good food. Have considered it for my girl. She is on a commercial frozen raw right now. Of course your pup will need to be changed over slowly to whatever you decide on. I trained my Gracie to two different pee pad sites. One near the door and one in the bedroom because she slept with me at night. (The first couple of months I had pads every where she went!) When she was about 7 months old I decided to get rid of the bedroom pad because she was doing so well, but found she would pee where it once was. I had to put it back and slowly move it (about a foot per week) until I got it to where the other one was and then eventually eliminated it. They do form habits when young so you need to choose your site carefully. They can regress even when you think they have it perfectly under control. I found that changes in our home would sometimes cause her to have pee accidents during the first year. She is good about peeing outside when I take her for walks and does not have accidents anymore.

I know what you mean about the regression. We had a heck of a summer with Miya (our chi). We lived in VA and visited my parents in FL for the summer, then moved to Japan in October..She's had quite the few months. We had to start from scratch with training. It was my fault but she's back on track now No more traveling for us like that. I am using Happy Tails Oatmeal Shampoo and Fur Butter Conditioner for Miya. Could I use the same for Domo, being a yorkie? I read about the Yorkie sheen and shine or whatever it is, I might try that too. I am really happy with ZiwiPeak. It's been great for Miya and she loves it. When Domo is old enough, he will eat it too.

Welcome. I noticed when Bailey was much younger he seemed to pee quite a bit. But he didn't pee as much each time as he does now (like a little horse). Who knows.

| I've never had 2 dogs that used pee pads, but I just wanted to say that my Mandie will not even pee and poop on the same pad so you might have a hard time getting both dogs to use the same pad. I'm not sure, but just throwing that out there.

Welcome to YT. May I suggest you start your own thread as your question is likely to get lost, in all the responders to the original posters question. If she is in heat, she needs to be protected from mating at all times for the next 4wks. That means you never let her out unattended, and if you have un neutered males at home you must crate and rotate. Belly bands or diapers are not birth control! Try to keep her busy. Get her interested in games or toys. Talk with her a lot. If she will let you; hold and cuddle her. You will need to be very careful with walking her as she is in heat. GL with your gal

Thank you. I am on chihuahua-people.com and have learned SO MUCH. I was ecstatic to see there was a Yorkietalk as well! So, Domo has a little nub of a tail. Is this normal, will it grow?
