| My Yorkie is so bad My Yorkie is going on 6 months and he will not stop pooping and peeing all over the house. He goes out often and does his business, then comes back in and does it all over the house. He goes directly to his crate as soon as he feels he has been caught, but I just don't know what to do anymore. He seems smart enough, why is he doing this and what can I do to stop him. |

| He's only 6 months, you are expecting too much. Are you feeding him his meals at the same time every day? Are you taking him out at the same time every day? How long are you staying outside with him? If he goes outside, I don't see how he could have any more to go inside. If he's doing it right after coming back in, you're not staying out there with him long enough. Don't let him have full access to the house. Gate off certain areas, and he has to earn those places. The better he does, the more space he gets. This is not an overnight thing. It takes patience and lots of time. You have to keep an eye on him all the time.

Everything I was gonna say Also, do whatever possible for him not to go potty in the house even if your taking him out every half hour.(I know it's a pain to keep an eye on him at all times, but he'll potty train alot faster) I noticed with Joel he did way better after I took all the chances away from him being able to have and accident. And if your pup still won't potty when you stay out longer, then when you bring him in maybe hold him for 10 min so he can't go off and pee, and then take him out again.

| You might want to try tethering your dog to you so he is with you at all times. That way he cannot wander off and pee some where in the house. Get a 6' leash and hook it to your belt loop or some other part of your clothing. We once had a dog that did well during the day but would get up and potty sometime during the night. We tethered he to the bedroom door at night and she never did it again. It may take a while to break him of this habit but once he realizes that you are with him all the time he will stop the accidents and you will learn his signals for having to go. |

Also when he goes out and poops or pee say good poop or good pee and give him a treat. Only give him this treat when he goes out and goes potty. He will think every time I go potty I get a treat. It might help Good luck and keep us updated

| We have been very patient, take him for long walks and wonder how he had anything left to do in the house, but he does. It only takes a minute of my back turned that he does this, but I like the tether Idea that way he will be kept closer. Plus we are keeping him in closer quarters as well so he cannot get around a corner even for a second. Thanks for all your help. I was told that he should be trained by now, so I was getting worried, probably for nothing then. |

| At 6 months, he should be kind of getting it but by no means near 100% housebroken. You're pretty much on track, just keep at it. Don't slack. Dogs usually won't go pee/poop near where they eat or sleep. But the thing with small dogs is just across the living room is far away to them. If you don't give them too much room, they won't want to go in their area and give off more signs they need to relieve themselves. The tethering actually works really well, I forgot about that last night.
