You might want to try tethering your dog to you so he is with you at all times. That way he cannot wander off and pee some where in the house. Get a 6' leash and hook it to your belt loop or some other part of your clothing.

We once had a dog that did well during the day but would get up and potty sometime during the night. We tethered he to the bedroom door at night and she never did it again. It may take a while to break him of this habit but once he realizes that you are with him all the time he will stop the accidents and you will learn his signals for having to go.
